Advantages: fair enough to pay SOME fee for otherwise free TV
Disadvantages: nothing in return for money
The T.V. licence debate. I think that the BBC are being very cheeky by asking for more and more money every year. What the hell are they doing with it. When I think about the programmes I watch I can honestly say that almost none of them are provided by the BBC. Fair enough they don't get any money from advertising....but why not surely advertising doesn't bother us so much that we would say - 'Hey BBC don't really have any good progammes to watch, but we will choose to watch it because it doesn't have any advertising' I don't think so. I also disagree with the way in which they are trying to get people to pay T.V. fees, by pasteing their address on a billboard informing the town that they have not bought a licence. Definately in bad taste. It seems inevitable that the T.V. licence will continue and the BBC must realise that not everyone can afford such a hefty amount. Their should at least be discounts granted for some groups such as the unemployed, oap's and students.
