Advantages: Some quality programmes, no adverts, full length films.

Disadvantages: too many repeats, too expensive for what it is.

I agree with johnt to some extent, mainly about the bias tendencies that arise as a result of advertising. Having said that, if you are paying over a hundred pounds a year, you'd expect something new each year, and maybe something original. Programs such as Gimme, Gimme, Gimme may be seen as good by some people, but come on, after seeing that once, it put me off for life. The BBC has resorted to repeats time and time again instead of branching out and creating rather than replaying programmes. On Friday nights, channel 4 is by far the best of the bunch, and the BBC is way behind, competing with the likes of channel 5(perish the thought!). I think the BBC should come up with some quality programmes from the same top drawer as Top Gear and Match of the Day(RIP). I read today that the BBC is thinking of introducing BBC3 and BBC4, well I wait in anticipation of more classics such as 'the liver birds' and 'ready, steady cook'.
I hope the BBC prove me wrong....
