For many years, the faithful BBC has brought us quality TV and radio programmes on a number of stations. What's more, there are no adverts and now we can even access more from the website. For all this, we pay a fee of £100 per year (less then £2 per week). Personally, I think that the TV license is not only good value and a fair price ... Read the complete review

How I agree with the review. It reminds me of a story heard a while ago..... Tv detector vans patroll around schools as the kids leave off. Kids run home and tell mum ( this is a ploy to cause panic). Dad sees the detector van whilst out and about and tells the official, 'If you call at my home tell my wife I left the tv licence in the ... Read the complete review

I've just received a letter from John Thompson, TV Licensing Enforcement Manager; urgently reminding me that a payment of £116.00 is due immediately. Unless, of course, I am over 75 years of age (I am not). Or registered blind (I am not- but more of this later). Or do not have a TV receiver - by which I assume they mean ... In the best traditions of Frankie Howerd, THE PROLOGUE I just thought I'd set down a few facts about the forthcoming re-launch of Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting in defence of the licence fee. There seems to be a wealth of opinion along the lines of "for the rubbish the BBC produce, they've got a cheek charging for ... Read the complete review

This may well be a controversial view. I accept that. But it is one that has grown in my thinking over the last few years. I am now unable to justify the TV Licence when the individual viewer should be given the right to spend his or her money on whatever viewing they like. The BBC Must Go Over the years, the BBC has ... The licence fee was brought in as a luxury tax over 40 years ago. It costs 133m a year to adminstrate and I believe it relies on an out-dated law that benefits a corporate dinosaur run by fat cats. Heres my reasoning behind the removal of the TV licence fee: BBC1 and 2 are no longer the only channels available and demand payment even if ... Read the complete review

Hey, you! Did you know that you can pay for your TV Licence by Direct Debit for just over £9 per month? Well, frankly, if you didn't you probably don't need one - because you clearly never watch television. Although they've slackened off a bit in recent months, the BBC seem to be completely obsessed with Direct Debits - the adverts ... Read the complete review

There are good programmes on the BBC of course (after living in France and watching the drivel they put out i.e. dubbed over American rubbish, anything is good) but I know what they spend the TV licence money on....and you've probably guessed it already EXPENSE ACCOUNTS. Also, if you are paying for the licence and you don't have cable or ... Read the complete review

The BBC has turned into a farce and I for one am not happy at all with the service it provides. I pay in excess of £100 for an annual TV licens and what do i get? The occassional good movie, Eastenders and athletics. Thats it! All the other programmes are so drab that it forces me to switch the tv off. BBC 2 has absolutely nothing worthwhile ... I am on a mission when it comes to any organisation operating via a call centre and to date have only found one that offers even remotely what I would identify as even remotely humanely, sensibly and without too many cock-ups and since I have praised them, they too have managed to get on my bad-side, hence why I am about to produce a 20,000 ... My flatmate and I were caught by the TV Licence Detector Man. We had been sent several threatening letters which we had dutifully ignored. We were students living in a flat surrounded by other students - we thought how could they possibly know? But the Man knows. We were caught in our pyjamas watching to our disgrace 'Richard & ... TV lincensing is anachronistic. We, who supposedly live in a democracy, are compelled to pay a Poll Tax to subsidise a state propaganda system. A system that is specifically antipathetic to the middle classes and the educated according to the very revered Chairman. I have avoided paying the license for the last few years by not having a TV set. ... Read the complete review

TV licences. We all know we are supposed to have them, but why is there such a feeling of dread whenever we think about them? I'll tell you why; Up until recently we have seen adverts all over the television telling us that there were people travelling around in big white vans with on-board facilities that let them know if anyone in ... I'm so tight that i've got padlocks on my pocket. I absolutely, furiously, vehemently and any other word ending in ly, hate paying for my TV licence. As a Post Office clerk, I always know when the TV Licence Detector van is in the area, because we get a sudden rush of people wanting to purchase licences. (or perhaps, not exactly wanting to, more, feeling obliged to.) But even I was shocked to read recently in our local paper that in this area (the Black Country) for this year alone, ... Isn't it about time we stopped paying out for a TV Licence. The BBC do produce some decent programmes but then so do the ITV.I feel that the price for the licence is one that most people could do without. A few years ago, having not much else to do, I sat down and worked out exactly what I was paying for with my TV licence. Considering that the licence only really pays for BBC services and accounting for repeats, original (i.e. not shown elsewhere) American imports, Telethons, and compliation programs and news & sport (which I think should be ... When my sister was at university a few years ago, she didn't need a TV licence as it was covered by the licence at home. She also didn't have to pay tuition fees. But, how kind of the TV licencing company. Seeing as students now have to pay up to £1075 a year in fees and get a measly loan to cover expenses, they have decided that students ...
