I know some people like the BBC and do not mind paying for their TV Licence, but I for one do. It is £103.00 per year for 2 channels, I pay monthly, about £9.00. Paying monthly you do not seem too notice the charge but that is not to say that I agree with paying it. I also pay £12.00 per month for over 20 channels with sky. I do not see ... I fell on this subject just looking around today and somebody had written that tv licences were good value and well worth the money. This brought steam out of my ears, what a silly comment to make. I feel that £112.00 per year to watch BBC1 and BBC2 is daylight robbery. If there was anything decent to watch on these channels I ... Read the complete review

I personally feel that tv licences are well worth the money, where I am currently living I can share the cost with 7 other people making it only around 13 pounds for a full year. This is great value for all the programs I watch on bbc 1 and 2 (though recently mainly on bbc 2) and I will be willing to pay the full price when I have to. However ... Read the complete review

The TV Licence is very unpopular at the moment. It seems that people would rather sit through advert breaks than pay for the privilege of not seeing them. I am not one of these people. I'd like you to consider a world without a BBC independent of advertisers. None of TV networks would be answerable to the people and, without the BBC ... Read the complete review

I am going to be a moan here and you will all probably think of me as a scrooge but the tv licence is so not worth it! Now me and my boyfriend stay together and half the bills. So it turns out that the tv licence works out to about £1 a week each. So when you think about it that way then it is really nothing. It's not a lot of money ... Read the complete review

Praise has to be given to the BBC even though you have to pay the licence fee. The BBC is totally advert-free, allowing films and sport to not be interrupted. The quality of the BBC’s programmes is generally good though some of the things they do are a waste. Take BBC news 24, BBC America and BBC world for example; actually how many people ... Well...yes I know TV Licencing is a logical idea - the money raised does go towards new broadcasts and programmes but wanting it off of students - TOP WHACK! - is not a very good idea. This morning each member of our hall recieved a letter from the TV License company stating - "I am writing to inform you we have no record of a TV License at this ... Read the complete review

£108? For a whole years quality programming across two channels, or more if you are lucky enough to have digital, plus a network of high quality national and regional radio services? PLUS an excellent and informative website and many other services provided to the public? Sounds like the bargain of the century if you ask me... ... Read the complete review

Here's the deal...the vast majority of the country's households pay their £9 per month, or thereabouts, for the privelege of watching the channels that a lot of people couldn't care less about. And why don't they care? Well, for example, I sit and flick through the TV guide and very rarely find anything I want to sit and watch on ... Read the complete review

I would rather pay the £104 licence fee than sit through adverts all the time on the BBC channels. This came home to me at Christmas when in such programs as Lorna Doone and Merlin the adverts were interspersed with the program about every ten minutes. It was really irritating - obviously the powers that be thought a lot of people would be ... Read the complete review

I think the License fee is more than fair considering what is available on their two channels.None of this commercial Robson Greene drama pap you are fed after a diet of "This is how you should live your life soaps". I know educational and documentary stuff can be a bit tedious but at least its nearer the reality of life than the ... Read the complete review

The debate about the Television licence is surely about to change. In a couple of years analogue television is to be switched off and digital will be the new king.No choice, it has been decreed by Governemnt. Having made enquiries with Radio Rentals and Granada, I have been informed that the only way we will get to see anything is either ... Read the complete review

What would you prefer? A BBC as it is just now or a BBC with adverts interrupting their programmes evey 10 mins? In my own opinion I prefer the BBC as it is with no adverts, however I do get annoyed paying for a television licence to watch repeats, dross like Playing with Time and mind-numbing soaps like Neighbours. In my opinion, with all ... Read the complete review

I know this is maybe slightly off track a little, but I feel it should be mentioned here. Students and TV Licences. In the Halls of Resdience there are around 1000 people. Now times this by £104. £104,000. Now times this by how many universtities there are in Britain and Hey Presto! They have LOADS of money!!! Okay, granted, not ... Read the complete review

The reason we pay for a tv licence is to avoid ads on the beeb. I know ads can be annoying. In the middle of a great film, the last thing you want to be told about is bodyform invisible, or diocalm, but i personally accept these over a licence fee. £9 a month is'nt that much but I prefer the ads, as they give me the time to go get a brew ... Many people query the necessity of spending £100 a year for a TV licence. This works out at around £8.50 per month, which I believe is a small price to pay to watch public broadcast television, i.e. the BBC. The BBC is the only mass audience broadcaster that does not carry advertising as well as being the source of some of the highest ... Read the complete review

I personally have no major problems with the TV license. I pay £32 a month for all my Sky channels and about £8 a month for the TV license. My main problem with the TV license is that unlike say Sky's subscription, you don't get a choice in what you pay for. For example if you never watched BBC1 or BBC2 why should you pay for a license ... Read the complete review

The license fee pays for the BBC in other words we pay for it. The only thing wrong with that is that I dont watch any BBC as all the programmes are either repeats or catered to the female and teenage audiences. The money they put in doesnt go into making good shows or something for everyone otherwise they would risk some money on a big ... Read the complete review

Update 4th February at end of original op. Given the current levels of opposition to the licence fee, it seems fairly obvious to me that it is unlikely to continue in its present form for very much longer. This development is surely inevitable given the expansion of pay-per-view services offered by Sky, Ondigital and others who are even ... Read the complete review

Whilst a commercial-free channel is bliss, i suppose having to endure commercials is a small price to pay! (none actually!) I for one, don't watch much of the BBC and begrudge paying for something that i hardly watch! on average i only watch approx 3-5 hrs of BBC a week, so i think it unfair that i have to pay over a £100 every year to watch ...
