Advantages: The TV schedule is easy to memorise, Interruptions to cult shows like Buffy are an exception, not a rule like other channels, Soaps, drama, comedy, movies, and Europe's premier soccer tournament, the Champions League

Disadvantages: Adverts, but this is an independent channel, Little presentation mistakes. They don't spoil viewing though, Their official website needs some sprucing;it makes some browsers crash

An introduction: TV3 was given the go-ahead to air on September 1998 when An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern officially threw the switch. It would initially provide a mix of news, current affairs and an alternative programming schedule. Now look at why it is annihilating standard terrestrial channels when it comes to programmes, mainly cult...

First of all, sci-fi programmes like Roswell and Buffy are treated as "dramas" meaning they get the primetime slots of 8pm,are treated as very important shows (heavily promoted to the degree that they get promoted on national and local radio(!)).
Wave goodbye to lines like "Buffy will be back in four weeks time" - backed up by the past year when series 5 of said show ran on primetime every Thursday without delay or interruption whatsoever. And how about starting series 2 of Angel from last November, uncut at 9pm,meaning Irish viewers did'nt have to wait for Channel 4? UK terrestrial networks should take a leaf from this.

Speaking of Angel, series two is completing its run;Channel 4 have not even started yet.
Add to this unrivalled Champions League coverage, rakes of blockbuster films, acclaimed comedies like Sex And The City, South Park, dramas like Cold Feet, soaps Corrie and Emmerdale, and there's something for everyone.

Oh, and by the way, their coverage of snooker, cricket,or any minority sport which delays many a cult programme on other networks only goes as far as a daily half-hour sports programme every week-night. Drama and comedy are clearly top of the agenda. The way a TV network should be run.

TV3 is still a little Sky Oneish but thankfully the sport coverage is getting better. All their male presenters remain at least 3 stone overweight however.
