Advantages: Good selection of oldies.
Disadvantages: They're alllllll OLD!
If you're someone who likes to watch thpse golden oldy programmes that were shown 10-20 years previously then UK Gold is definitely the channel for you!
UK Gold broadcasts re-runs of all different old programmes. They have soaps showing on a daily basis. For example, Eastenders and Neighbours. (Why would you want to see these again. That's what i want to know). They show some classic comedy programmes like Dinnerladies, Only Fools and Horses, Porridge, The Good Life and many more. That's more my kind of programme. Ones with humour. People always say things aren't what they used to be and i think these old comedies prove them right. They sure show comedies today a thing or two. UK Gold also has dramas like The Bill which you can get a double dose of every morning from 9-10am. Then you've got the real oldies like Dallas and Dynasty. Now i think that's going to far because they're way over the hill and back now. You also have shows like Dangerfield and To the Manor Born.
UK Gold as you can see fom some of my mentionings has a great selection of many programmes if you like the oldies that is. If you don't it's tough really because you still pay for this channel in your package even if you don't use it. But if tht's your cup of tea this is pure heaven and you won't want to leave your seat.

- 15/04/03 UK GOLD is just like every other channel on SKY. Endless repeats and constant advertisements. Because a lot of channels have a a + channel and a 2 this means that most pragrammes are shown up to 9 times a day. And then they are all repeated again a couple of months later. I contacted sky and asked why the same programmes are repeated over and over throughout the year, with some episodes being aired more that 50 or 60 times in a 12 month period. I was told that this was to ensure that every subscriber has a chance to see everything that is aired and that they have no plans to stop this repeat pattern. I am still seeing programmes that were shown more that 3 years ago. With the constant repeats and the the large amount of advertising, SKY can only be described as a rip-off. You wouldn't by a magazine with evry page repeated 3 times and then by the same thing again a copuple of issues later so why should we do it with SKY.
I foor one will be terminating my subscription asap. |
