YorkshireNewest Review: ... computers! Of course, everything was powered by ferrets... Let's not forget the legacy that Yorkshire TV has given us though, aside of course, from Jimmy 'Fix It' Saville. I'm referring to the greatest presenter alive... Richard Whitely. His gentle bonhomie, and pithy jokes were gracing the screens of Yorkshire TV long before he got all big-trousered and moved in with that Carol Vordeperson. Oh hang on, it might have been BBC North... dammit, another memory fading away due to chemicals in the nasty southern water I'm forced to drink nowadays... not to mention what they call Beer... and you might as well forget finding... more More other TV channels

Aaah Yorkshire. I grew up in Leeds, home of the indomitable Yorkshire TV. That oh-so-familiar distorted Y, rising out of a pond of liquid gold is one of my earliest memories. I remember thinking "WOW! That computer generated golden liquid looks so realistic!" It made me want to get on my ATARI ST and start creating fabulous animations of my own... Of course, home computing really wasn't up to it then, and looking back on it now, even the high-end stuff looked pretty ropey. But hey! What did you expect? This was Leeds.
