Advantages: Good Fun

Disadvantages: Can be quite revolting at times!!

I do like watching this show and have done since the first series.

The series starts in the Autumn and is spread over a 21 days period. Yes 3 weeks in a jungle setting!!

It is shown on ITV1 and is presented by ANT and DEC. The idea of the show is that the celebrities have to sleep in the middle of a jungle based in Australia. They usually get dropped off by a small plane and have to parachute in. Some arrive by water. Once in a camp they need to learn to live with each other. They live by a camp fire and have to do bushtucker trials in order to win food for the camp.

These bushtucker trials are some of the most horrendous trials you could possibly imagine. This includes eating wigedy grubs and having rats climb all over you. Other trials including eating crocodile penis and kangaroo testees. The contestants are often left exhausted and baulking whilst they try and compete with each other.

After day 12 the public start voting off their least favourite celebrity, until in the end there is the winner who will have lasted the full 3 weeks. They have then crowned King or Queen of the jungle.

During the experience it has been known for several contestants to get it together. Jordan (Katie Price) and Peter Andre actually found love in Series 3 and got married. Other contestants actually find they detest each other and spend the whole adventure arguing with each other.

In the first series which took place in 2002 the contestants (or celebraties as they like to be called) were Tony Blackburn (DJ), Uri Geller (mystic), Christine Hamilton (wife of ex tory), Tara Palmer-Tomkinson (socialite and TV presenter), Darren Day (actor), Nell McAndrew (model), Nigel Benn (boxer), Rhona Cameron (comedian).

THE WINNER WAS KERRY McFADDEN

In the fourth series the celebrities were Joe Pasquale (comedian), Brian Harvey (singer), Antonio Fargas (actor), Nancy Sorrell (model), Sheila Fergusson (singer), Sophie Anderton (model), Janet Street-Porter (TV presenter/producer), Fran Cosgrave (who knows?), Paul Burrell (ex royal butler), Natalie Appleton (singer), Vic Reeves (comedian).

************************************************* **

It has already been confirmed that ITV1 will be hosting a ninth series in the Autumn of 2009. Contestants already being mentioned but unconfirmed are Michael Owen (Footballer) and Cilla Black (Ex Singer and TV Presenter).

Summary: Definately a show for after 9pm - but funny at times!!
