Advantages: Entertaining Bush Tucker Trial. Intersting Relationships Between Celebs.
Disadvantages: Can Get Really Boring Waiting For The Trial To Come On!
I'm A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here is a celebrity based reality television show. There have been 8 series to date & the one about to start on ITV will be the 9th series. It tends to be shown every night of the week for around 2 weeks.
The programme takes a number of celebs (I use the term loosely as they are often obscure or famous 20 years ago) & plants them in the Australian bush living in jungle conditions with very few comforts of modern society.
The main draw of the programme is the "Bush Tucker Trial" in which one celeb (voted to do the task by phone vote from teh general public) must compete in a task of some kind. This can be either physically demanding or challenging such as climbing or running, emotionally scary & possibly mildy painful such as going into a cave filled with spiders & snakes that can & will bit or even consuming food that tastes foul & can result in vomitting. How well the celeb does in this task will affect how many meals are delivered to the camp to be shared between the occupants who are surviving on meager rations. Celebrities have been injured in the past doing these trials.
The secondary draw to the programme is the relationships between the celebs & each other as they are hungry & stressed & all competing to try & win the competition. Careers & Relationships have been broken & made by 2 weeks in this jungle.
I'm not really a big fan of the programme. I will tape it & fast forward to the end to watch the Bushtucker Trial, but other than that, I don't find the programme that entertaining (and I'm sure the ratings my review gets will suffer because of the score I've given). I recommend this programme if you if you like big brother, or survivor or other TV shows where you watch people in a situation they wouldn't normally be in competing for a prize. If you don't like that type of programme & aren't that into Reality TV, I'd recommend avoiding it.
Summary: Not a bad programme & vey entertaining in places. Very boring in others though

- 13/11/09 I would rather have to do all the bush tucker trials myself.... twice, than watch one minute of this rubbish! - Colin |

- 13/11/09 I always fast forward the bush tucker trial where they have to eat horrible things - that's the big advantage of recording it. Cuts down the viewing time too. |
