‘The News Alternative’ that was the 11 O’clock show ran for a number of series on Channel 4, mostly starting within around one hour of the time slot advertised by the title. The series was something of a cult hit and indeed was the show that introduced hugely successful comedians Ricky Gervais and Ali G to television audiences, although after a ... The 11 O'clock Show used to be good, and used is the operative word. A couple of years ago it was worth staying up for as they presented us with 'topical' debates and (allbeit wacky) surveys (thank you Greg DuPont, you French Canadian Psychologist you). Daisy Donovan and a very camp Iain Lee were as good a match made in heaven as Ant ... Read the complete review

Not the worst thing on the tv but I can think of other things that I would rather watch. I can admit that it is good as a news alternative but there is a lot of stupidness to the show that is meant to be funny but is not. The thing I like about it is when there is the news clips on but they are warped. they are quite funny. It ... Read the complete review

The 11 O'Clock (although it never seems to be on at 11.00) USED to be a great programme. Without doubt, the show has launched many familiar faces thanks to it's "Trigger Happy" style wind-ups; the most notable of these, of course, is Ali G. But also, Iain Lee is certainly a great up-and-coming comic, and Daisy ... Read the complete review

To be honest, it was fresh when it first started. Though vulgar in places. Poking fun at people's infirmity has never been a big thing with me. Gradually this show has gone downhill. Yes, there was a good gag in a recent show, but it was ver batum what they were doing on Not the 9 O'Clock news about twenty years ago. The ... Read the complete review

Channel 4 decided not to tell us about the arrival of their two new presenters, rather to spring them on us unaware at the start of this latest series. Almost as if they were hoping we wouldn't notice, don't you think? In the beginning, I really enjoyed this show. Ian Lee was one of the few people I had seen pull off the vulgar ... Channel 4's topical 11 o'clock show used to be funny, sharp, satirical and highly entertaining. It was never in the class of That Was The Week That Was - but that's like comparing Westlife to the Beatles. The former is fashionable - the latter was a tour de force. But at least TES had some sparkle in it. Sadly, those mid-week ... Read the complete review

The 11 o'clock show thinks it is something it isn't - funny. The show never was that good, but it has been steadily getting worse. Initially at least it was trying something a little different, but with a change of presenters - and let's face it the originals were drivel - it has truly sunk to the depths. I have ... This is a comedy news style proggramme presented by Sarah Alexander and Jon Holmes. It is a new series and new presenters and to be fair they aren't doing a bad job but they had a hard act to follow with the likes of Daisy Donovan Ian Lee and even Ali G all being past presenters. They have held on to the intrepid sports reporter Sarah Waugh ... Read the complete review

The new series of The 11 o'clock as started recently. it was comedy programme which is billed as 'the news alternative'. I saw it advertised and thought, oh I'm looking forward to that. The last series was absolutley hilarious. I settled down the other night to watch it. I knew Ali G had gone and got his own show, so he ... Read the complete review
