Bargain Hunt: ... Hunt is a programme in which apparent little treasures can be unearthed. Two teams of would-be gargain hunters are given the task to spend £200 on some antiques and those same items are put through the auction to see how much profit they can make. The programme is scheduled during the morning on BBC1 and is a light variation on the bargain hunting theme. It has to be said though that the greatest little trea...

polydeuces Jonathan Creek
... is a lot I like about Jonathon Creek but there is also a little that annoys me about it too. There is no doubt it attempts something different from the usual crime TV fare we get. Too many crime programmes come from the same template with a detective with personal problems who does not play by the book and gets results. The main characters of Creek and Maddy are quite likeable. A little quirky, yes, but not so that they stretch credibility. Jonathon is played by comedian and building society advert man Alan Davies and the rapport with Caroline Quentin who plays Maddy works well on screen. There seems to be a certain chemistry between them, not sexual but more mater...

polydeuces Cold Feet
... is hard to decide whether Cold Feet tries to be Friends and fails or whether it just is not supposed to be like Friends at all. Sure it has 6 main characters 3 male 3 female one of whom actually was in Friends those with a conspicuous lack of success. Their ages are similar but we have left the Big Apple and moved to Manchester. However whereas the characters in Friends are somehow more strongly defined those in Cold Feet have a more credible breadth and depth to them. As a consequence of this I found it far easier to identify with the characters in Cold Feet than I ever can with Friends. The characters are :- Rachel played by Helen Baxendale who appeared as Ross s in...

polydeuces Brookside
... find Brookside to be absolutely impenetrable. It takes long enough to understand what they are saying what with Go ead yur divvy whatever that means but even when you can understand them the storylines are so extreme there is just no credibility. I know its a soap and they have to compress everything into a small location but the amount of things which have happened in the Close are incredible. You have the usual mix of improbable marriages and relationships seemingly only set up so you can see how they fail. Completely implausible situations such as Jimmy Corkhill becoming a teacher and going off his head. There have been gangsters, stalkers, rapes, drugs, lesbian a...
