Advantages: Hilariously funny, will keep you in hysterics for ages!, Brilliant caricatures and drawings - can tell exactly who they are meant to be from the pictures!

Disadvantages: On really late at night (usually when I am in bed, asleep), Not enough showings of it, once a week just isn't enough, and also each showing is only for ten minutes, so it isn't very long., Once you start laughing, you won't be able to stop!

As the name suggests, 2DTV consists entirely of 2D animation, using the latest computer technology to speed up the animation process and enable topical animation to become a reality.
Emphasis has been put on using traditional animation and drawing skills, to ensure that the show has an accessible and appealing look.

2DTV is a cartoon comedy sketch programme which is on usually at about 10.00pm in the evening's, on ITV on Saturday and Sunday nights (weekends).

So far there have been two series of 2DTV, both of them have been as good as each other and I hope that there are plenty more to come in the future, as when they are on TV, I never fail to miss watching them!

I was shocked to discover that over 50 new characters have been introduced, made and caricatured for 2DTV's new series, including: Kylie Mingoue, Gareth Gates, Tom Cruise, Frank Skinner, Tim Henman, Coronation Street characters including Curly Watts and Gail Platt, Jennifer Lopez and Johnny Vaughan.
2DTV's, caricature library already hosts and boasts and a brilliant amount of famous people (over 200 at present and forever increasing)

Regulars on the first series included: Tony and Cherie Blair, George Bush (and his sock puppet advisor, Professor Liebstrom), David Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Prince William and Osama Bin Laden.

There are six episodes within each series, and series three is set to be released later on this year (2002). Each episode only lasts a short length of 10 minutes, but within that there are approximately twelve to fifteen sketches.

2DTV was piloted in March 2001 on ITV1, and the success of this pilot led to an immediate series commission. 2DTV was first broadcast in October and November 2001, on Sunday nights at 10.00pm, and consisted of six, ten minute programmes. A half hour compilation of the show was transmitted as the last show of the year on ITV1, at 11.30pm on 31st December 2001.

2DTV is a show wh
ere no ever comedy sketch show has been before, it is taking the micky out of anyone or anything famous, there are no limits set, anything goes!

The latest 2DTV news, includes:

16th May 2002 - 2DTV shows special compilation on 18th May at 10.00pm with latest episode!
29th April 2002 - 2DTV wins Press Award for Comedy at the Rose D'Or Festival in Montreux
12th April 2002 - 2DTV nominated for Best TV Series at the Annecy Animated Film Festival
5th April 2002 - 2DTV nominated for the Golden Rose of Montreux for Best Comedy
1st March 2002 - 2DTV nominated for the British Animation Award for Best Comedy
12th February 2002 - 2DTV nominated for the Indie Award for Best Animation

2DTV is regularly featured in the newspapers, sometimes in a bad way, but usually in a good way:

Time Out
"?more giggles than many half-hour comedies currently airing."
"?fast-firing, character-assassinating comedy."

The Times
"2DTV has been an extremely pleasant surprise."
"the jokes came thick and fast."
"The animation renaissance comes after the success of 2DTV, the satirical ITV series, that has been nominated for the Montreux Golden Rose award."

The Guardian
"Has Spitting Image finally found a worthy successor?"
"2DTV leads ITV comedy drive"
"ITV's most innovative animation project."

The Telegraph
"The future of comedy."

In fact, 2DTV are always on the look out for new, fresh ideas for their cartoon series, If you do have any then you can e-mail them (including either cartoons if you can scan them in or you can use sound equipment to make the voices if you wish), the address is talentsearch@2dtv.co.uk.

Some of the scripts, that most stick in my mind are:

The one where Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss are having dinner and then the waiter asks what they
want for dinner and they pronounce some really long foreign name which sounds really extravagant. Then the waiter brings up a huge plate with one piece of cress in the middle of each of their plates, and says 'bon appetit'. Then Victoria Beckham says 'Oh, Kate, don't you think their portions are a bit big' and Kate replies with something like 'yeah, I'm going to be full up, I won't be able to eat for a week!'.

There is one that involves Geri Halliwell and Robbie William's out for a meal, they are sitting in a restaurant in central London and all of the cameras and press are focusing in on them, they both put each others hands together as Robbie says something like 'I want us to be together' and then Geri replies 'I agree Robbie' and Robbie answers 'not really, this is just for publicity and anyway, I'm gay!!' and Geri answers 'oh my god, really?' and Robbie says 'no, that's for publicity too!'.

Tony Blair and his wife Cherie are having dinner with the Prescott's, in John Prescott's house. They have general chit-chat and talk about various political issues, then Prescott's wife asks Tony and Cherie if they fancy a 'bit of Italian'. Tony and Cherie start showing off with their 'Italian Lingo' and then John Prescott gets the phone and rings the Pizza Delivery service and orders a couple of large Pizzas!

Kylie Mingoue is on set for her new video and the make up artists says to her 'I think you need some powder on your cheeks', and then Kylie lifts up the back of her short dress, as the woman applies the powder with a brush!

Another Kylie Mingoue incident is when Kylie Mingoue has been invited to a huge party and is about to enter down the red carpet towards the front door, when the photographers call out 'Kylie, Kylie you've dropped something', and she bends over and they start snapping away, and th
en the camera men say 'that's alright now, you can go now'.

One that sticks in my mind is where Catherine Zeta Jones is feeding her and Michael Douglas's baby and then the baby says is about to say it's first word but before it does, as the baby says 'gra gra', Catherine calls out 'Michael, come here, quickly our son is saying his first words' and then when he does eventually get there the baby looks at him and says 'Gra gra, GranDad'.

It is v. funny - I liked Prince William and Harry as Shaggy and Fred from Scooby Doo the other night. And the kids party game at Posh n Becks party - pin the tail on the goalie. Hee-Hee - poor David Seaman.
