Advantages: Back ground noise for when your doing something else...
Disadvantages: Boring, same every day
This is a typical 'day time' telelvevision show that's on on Channel 3 every weekday currently 2pm until 3pm.
The clue is in the name in what this programmes about. A professional team of upto 100 people have an hour to make over around 3 or 4 rooms.
The usual 'surprise' routine is applied where a family member takes out the home owner for the day to a spa or the zoo or somewhere along those lines. The house is then cleared of furniture, walls stripped, preprepared etc. The team then move in with a designer barking orders for a mad rush of jobs to be completed. It used to be Claire Sweeney who hosted the show but in her place is a Terri Dwyer. She is equally as boring and she tries to get everyone to hurry and does count downs.
After all the advert brakes the last 10 minutes or so is when the final countdown happens when most of te time the make over is completed. The odd time I've seen them not finish it in time so they get an extra amount of time. It's not stated how much.
Then the home owner is driven down the road towards the house with everyone stood outside cheering, terribly clichéd. First of all they are shocked and confused then the predictably 'oh my gosh isn't it lovely' starts. I have failed to see an episode where a single negative is mentioned even though most of the designs are quite bright and bold and obviously not to everyone's taste.
The rooms do look like they are complete but I would bet close up the standard is very poor, although you obviously don't see this.
All in all I avoid this programme but if it's a choice between this and Diagnois Murder on BBC1 this wins.
I would'nt reccomend it, it's very fake and patrronising to the viewers and the home owners who have to go along with routine.
Once you've seen one, you've seen them all...
Summary: Once you've seen one, you've seen them all...
