Dempsey & Makepeace ... can still catch Dempsey and Makepeace on ITV3 where the re-runs of old episodes are shown. This was a British detective series that originally went out in the eighties and the two lead characters were two police officers ho were totally chalk and cheese characters. Makepeace is played by Glynnis Barber and she is a bit upper class while Dempsey played by Michael Brandon is an American detectoive forced to leave New York after his partner is shot and he becomes a target due to police corrruption so he is transferred to England to keep him safe. Woodward starred in this American made action show as Robert McCall who is a man not to be messed with despite his middle England looks and manners as he is a former secret agent who has decided to loook after the little man by offerring his services to those in need, hence he can work as a body guard or as a private investigator to sort out peoples troubles. The character operates withing his own moral code therefore he is quite happy inflicting pain on hose who he considers worth it and is quite comfortable wth killing those who deserve it. Magnum ... P.I., to give the series it s full name, is an American series about a professional investigator in Hawaii. It ran from 1980 to 1988. Tom Selleck played the lead role of Thomas Magnum. He was previously a US Navy Seal and served during the Vietnam war. Magnum s past career as a Navy seal was occasionally explored during the series. Magnum lived in a guesthouse of the estate of Robin Masters, a successful novelist. He aids with security of the estate in exchange for his residence at the estate.
