A place in the sun is a programme about buying a property abroad. Over the years it has had a number of presenters however the one that stands out for me is Jasmine Herman. She is knowledgeable about buying property in a foreign country as she as lived abroad before and she is always very pleasant. I love property programs, and find it difficult to say bad things about them. Maybe it's because of their escapist nature, and the wish that one day you'll have the means to get that gorgeous house for yourself. I will concentrate on the new version of the program: A Place in the Sun: Home or Away, which is an hour-long and airs every Friday evening on Channel 4. It features a couple, who cannot decide whether they want to move to a new house in the UK or abroad. Enter Jonnie, who will host the first part of the program, showing the couple 3-4 houses in cloudy UK, trying to make them sound attractive, and the one half of the couple preferring UK ... Basically, each episode a couple or family or friends go away to a different holiday resort, in which they look at three or four different properties to buy as a potential holiday home. the show follows them around the homes and sees their opinion of them and then sees whether they make an offer on any of them. My problems with this show are that half the time the people haven't visited the resort before, and clearly have no intention of actually buying - which to me seems like they are using it to get a holiday out of the tv channel. Also alot of couples don't do their ... Read the complete review

I have been watching the repeated programming of “A Place in the Sun” for years. It intrigues me probably more than the average UK viewer, in that I live in France. The programs' purpose is to take British people to another land, and seek their ideal home. To a certain degree with house prices being staggeringly high in the UK, I can understand why people are looking elsewhere, and also that programs like this make entertainment. Showing the Brit what they can get for their money in areas such as France, Spain, Montenegro, Pau, Italy and other countries is a fine idea, although the last series that I watched upset me sufficiently to write a review about the ... Introduced by Amanda Lamb "A Place in the Sun" can be found on Channel 4 between 5.00pm and 5.30pm on weekday afternoons. We decided earlier this year that we would look for a property abroad. We own a couple of properties in the United Kingdom and have decided to sell one of these to finance our overseas purchase. My husband, although he works overseas, is semi-retired and I am self-employed and am able to carry on with my occupation as a jewellery designer anywhere in the world (well, anywhere within reason, that is). We chose southern Spain, as we like the area, it is easy to get to either by flying or by driving through France and Spain. ... Read the complete review
