Absolutely FabulousNewest Review: ... on tap and a party lifestyle. They seem to lack any responsability which mainly results in Saffy (Eddie's daughter) having to pick up the pieces. Saffy is everything her mother wishes she wasn't, in the fact that she is a geekish girl who would rather study than party. Throughout the shows you see the underlying issues between the various characters, themes such as jealousy, revenge. I love the way Eddie and Patsy bounce off each other, and whilst their drunken behaviour may not be such a good thing, it does make for quite a comic show. One can almost imagine this being real, which is part of the appeal I suppose. I have to say I have bee... more |

This is a british sitcom written by and starring Jennifer Saunders. Another well known actor in this is Joanna Lumley. The show focuses mainly on Eddie and Patsy. who like to live the high life, with expensive shopping, alcohol on tap and a party lifestyle. There seems to be a neverending re-run of these on gold channels at the moment. I never used to like this show much, perhaps it was because I was too young originally to identify with the characters. Watching it now though, I can understand much better why it is so popular. The show centres around the PR type person Eddy played by Jennifer Saunders and her hideous friend Patsy, played by Joanna Lumley. Together, they spend little time doing work and more time gassing, shopping and having parties, oh and being drunk! Cast: The two leads are brilliant of course. Saunders is like some mad aunt, trying to play at being this fashion savvy high ... Read the complete review

I was one of the few people in this country who really didn't find thsi programme that funny when it first started. I found that it just seemed like an overly long sketch from Jennifer saunders comedy Shows with dawn French. However I kept giving it another go and by the end I think I was as hooked as everyone else. The bizarre goings on that happened in that fashion magazine were no "Ugly Betty" but it was funny. Jennifers character of Edwina was so just so over the top. I read an artical once that in order to make her look ridiculous all her clothes were always a size too small and the Joanne Lumly character was always made to look ... Read the complete review

I loved this show when it was still being aired. Jennifer Saunders never fails to make me laugh with her incredibly funny scripts. To give you a brief outline of the theme behind the show, it follows the life of the main character, Edina Monsoon. There are four other main characters that feature regularly, and various characters that come and go. The main four not including Eddy are: Patsy Stone (Eddy's best friend), Saffy Monsoon (Eddy's daughter), Mrs. Monsoon (Eddy's mother) and Bubble (Eddy's personal assistant). **Character Descriptions** Edina Monsoon This is the main character, more commonly referred to as Eddy. Eddy considers ... Read the complete review

Absolutely Fabulous has been one of the most hugely successful sitcoms in recent years. When you consider the number of sitcoms which try and fail to find the right combination of characters and script then it is no mean achievement. As the basis of all the best sitcoms it is often the quality of the idea and of the writing which is initially most important. AbFab was unique in being a comedy filled with female characters but ultimately was not about being female or feminine or, heaven forbid, about being laddish. Far form it AbFab was celebration of comic characters. Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French have written some brilliant comic sketches for their own ... Read the complete review
