Advantages: You SO want them to be your two hilariously amusing friends from school.
Disadvantages: On the TV and not in my front room in real life.
It's a bit pointless, I suppose, writing a recommendation of a show that has now finished, with no more episodes to come, and with little chance of Channel 4 repeating the series they have - when they never bothered to give it a decent slot first time round. Which is all you need to know about Channel 4. The Adam and Joe Show was a little oasis of imaginative, unusual comedy, with the painstaking soft toy spoofs of TV and film sacred cows as a highlight - the This Life one was a classic, not least because the acting and script was actually better than in the original. No wonder they could only run to a couple of series when it took so long to make each tiny 5 minute segment. I loved the Vinyl Justice bit (less so when the people they were justicing got wise and started bringing out their Belle Stars albums to be 'ironically cool'); like Adam's dad's modern culture commentaries, they were brilliant because they actually loved the things they were spoofing: all the depth of reference only becomes clear if you watch those flashing post-advert break animations with a pause button on your video, as they originally intended. Feel sad now, knowing there won't be more. But Adam and Joe are both so brilliant they won't be doing digital TV things from Glastonbury for long.
