Advantages: Well written and cast
Disadvantages: Nothign revolutionary in the ideas!
After you've gone, starring Nicholas Lyndhurst, Celia Imrie, and a whole host of other good solid british sitcom talent, isnt a revolutionary idea or anything like that, but its a very well written series that achieves its simple aim with ease.
Like many sitcoms you have a stroppy teen daughter, a dopey son, an annoying mother in law - ringing bells here? - but that doesnt matter because its just a sitcom, designed to make people laugh and i thinkit does that very well. Like my other favorites, Only Fools and Horses, Vicar of Dibley, Dinner Ladies, and My Family - its the clever casting that makes te difference between a good sitcom and just 'another sitcom'
I know Nicholas Lyndhurst isnt everybodys cup of tea, but he is particularly good as the harrassed dad Jimmy, and Celia Imrie is hilarious as his witty but annoying mother in law! His friend (you may remember him as munch from two pints of lager, and the barman who you will remember from the Kumars, add another layer of people outside the family - my only critisism would be his girlfriend, not the best writing for her part!
His children played by the girl from Tracey Beaker and a boy who seems fairly new on the scene, tough did feature in a big Dr Who episode! are both very good, particlarly the boy who if you were impressed with Kris Marshall as Nick in My Family you will love this guy who is equally as sharp!
If you enjoy a good sitcom i think you will enjoy this - its got a great cast, solid writing, is well produced!
Summary: If you like to augh this should fit the bill!
