Advantages: Entertainment for all the family

Disadvantages: Some less well know celebrities

Mr & Mrs was originally ran from the 1960s to the 1980s, with Derek Batey being the best known presenter. The premise of the show was to discover how much married couples knew about each other. A late 90s version was hosted by Julian Clary but flopped badly. The current incarnation of the show is hosted by Philip Schofield & Fern Britton & features celebrities, hence the title "All Star Mr & Mrs".

The show airs on ITV on Saturday nights and features three sets of celebrity couples. Round One sees one half of the couple (usually the celebrity) isolated in the booth whilst their partner answers the questions. Round Two sees the couple separated by a screen & asked questions alonng the line of:- "who is the most likely to..........". The couple have two coloured bats (blue & pink) & if the bats they raise to answer the question match then they score a point. The couple with the most correct answers at the end of the two rounds goes through to the final to win money for the charity of their choice. The losing couples are given £5000 each for their charities.

The final part of the game has 4 questions. Each of the first 3 questions the celebrity answers correctly wins them £5000, making a possible total of £15000. The final question doubles their money meaning that they can earn a maximum of £30000 for the charity of their choice. Last week's show saw John Thomson of "Cold Feet" fame become the first celebrity to get all of the questions wrong & therefore win nothing. However, the show gave him and his wife £5000 for their charity for taking part.

Phil & Fern are a good team & make the celebrities feel welcome. Many of the questions are structured to provide a humourous slant to the show. The show is very easy to watch & something that all of the family can enjoy, although how much you enjoy it depends largely on the celebrities featured & the answers that they give.

All in all an opportunity for you to switch your brain off & enjoy some undemanding Saturday night entertainment.

I dont think they should call it Mr & Mrs as half the contestants are not MR & MRS. Good Review x.
