Advantages: excellent talent

Disadvantages: over emotional

WHAT IS IT ABOUT:
This US talent show sees members of the public showing off a variety of skills for the chance to win a cool one million dollar prize-fund. Simon Cowell owns and produces the show, but the judges are Piers Morgan, David Hasselhoff and Sharon Osbourne. Any type of performance is allowed, although the focus tends to be on singing, dancing, comedy and magic.

IS IT ANY GOOD:
It has become an almost 100% occurance that any review of a US show that is also created in the UK admits that the Americans are doing it better, and this show is no different. You may have enjoyed watching 'Britain's Got Talent', but this program takes performance to a whole new level: the Americans are simply amazing.

For no better example, shoot over to Youtube and search for 'quick change artists', then prepare to be amazed: this fabulous duo change their outfits in nano-seconds time and time again (someone please explain how it's done!)

Another excellent example (probably on Youtube too) is 'Rappin' Granny' (yeah you guessed it!)

Like the UK show, there's a tendency to favour child singers and opera singers, so the familiarity will also be enjoyed by fans of the UK show.

The judging panel is pretty interesting - Sharon we know from X Factor, and Piers from the UK version, but it is David Hasselhoff who is an intriguing guy, and makes very interesting viewing (particularly his odd facial expressions).

As with many American shows, there's a tendency to over-do the emotionalism which makes it a bit sickly at times (a definite negative).

IF YOU LIKED IT:
Obviously the UK version: 'Britain's Got Talent' is going to interest you too!

IN CONCLUSION:
An often amazing show where American talent rises to the surface.

Summary: watch it!
