Advantages: have a good laugh at the models
Disadvantages: could be a better layout of a show
Americas most smartest model
For all those of you who have never seen this program before, Americas most smartest model is basically a show in which 16 models live together and compete in tasks deciding how good they are at modelling and also how smart they are too. it's a pretty obvious show really and you could easily guess what its about just from the title. The loser each week gets the chop and also looses out on the potential prize of $100000 at the end of the competition.
I stumbled across this show one night whilst just sat at home bored to pieces and thought it looked alright. There have however been an rapid increase of different model TV programs creeping onto the scenes and iv got to say most of them have been total rubbish. One of my favourite so far has been the beauty and the geek program which was on a few years ago, I did prefer the English one over the American but I enjoyed both series of this.
The shows hosted by Ben Stein and Mary Alice Stephenson. Ben kind of taking on the role of the intelligent and more sympathetic one. Mary Alice though doesn't mind speaking her mind to the models at all which is good and adds a little variation to the show. Sometimes it feels as if she's been told to do or say things to the models or perhaps she does just speak her mind anyway.

Every week one model gets the chop by the hosts of the show by facing the elimination. The only way to stay out of the elimination is by winning the tasks either as a group as some of the tasks are or on your own like most of the tasks are.
Challenges range from a old-fashioned spelling bee to a science fair supervised by Bill Nye the Science Guy. There are also activities designed to test how well the contestants perform in actual modelling tasks -- like walking the runway and posing for photographs. The winner is declared America's Most Smartest Model and wins a prize package worth $100,000.
This show is pretty entertaining once you get past that its an American show which usually I cant seem to stand for some reason and also that there models. It does have a bit of a feel good factor when you know your smarter than most of the models on here, but then again they do look better so its win loose really. If you enjoyed beauty and the geek then this is one for you, I liked beauty and the geeks English version as opposed to the American one but this is quite similar in many ways apart from the fact there isn't any geeks in this show but that's about it.
Whos it for?
Most people will just totally hate this program though and I do see why but I advise giving it a try if there's nothing else to watch and you might just surprise your self how much you enjoy it.
Parents need to know that teens might pick up a few little-known facts from this reality-style game show such as how to spell the word bacchanalian. But they'll be hard-pressed to find many truly positive role models. Because contestants are judged not only on how much they know, but also on how good they look, the show emphasizes superficial beauty and generally makes fun of its intellectually challenged subjects. Plus, when they're not walking the runway, the contestants drink, smoke, and swear though the strongest language is bleeped out.
Shows about models are pretty common these days. Most programs either follow models/agencies scripted reality style, or they pit the models against each other in a competition format. Of the latter, America's Next Top Model is probably the best; VH1's new show America's Most Smartest Model is around medium.
AMSM's premise is simple: you take a dozen models from around the world then send them through mildly rigorous tests of modelling skill and intelligence to see who can last until the end. The show is sort of like Beauty and the Geek except there aren't any geeks, which is unfortunate because geeks make for great TV.
The saving grace of AMSM is, of course, the wonderfully talented Ben Stein. He's witty, dry, smart and completely unimpressed by anyone, including the blond sitting next to him, who's technically the star of the show.
Save for the PhD candidate Daniel, none of the models jump off the screen as particularly intelligent. Oddly enough, only a few pop seem especially good-looking (the Ruski Andre B. and Angela). I have to conclude that instead of being about brainy beauties, America's Most Smartest Model is actually about functionally-illiterate uglies.
Families can talk about the pitfalls of stereotyping others, especially when it comes to brains and beauty. Why do people tend to assume that models are stupid? Are female models slapped with the label more often than male models? Why? Would you rather be intelligent or attractive? Why or why not? Families could also have fun brainstorming a list of people they know who are both intelligent and good-looking.
Should children watch it?
These are some csm guidelines and what it contains in the show.
Sexual Content
Viewers will see women in skimpy bikinis and men without their shirts. Sexually charged comments fly freely (including words like "penis" and "boobs"), and one particularly chesty contestant whose resume includes working for Playboy is told she looks like a porn star.
Violence
Contestants are shown shouting at each other and sometimes screaming. But actual physical violence is rare.
Language
"Confessional"-style contestant interviews are peppered with bleeped-out profanity "and mild curse words like "damn," "hell," and "bitch."
Message
Social Behavior
The message is mixed. While some models are revealed to be nothing more than vapid beauties, others shatter that stereotype with serious smarts. But because two of the most promising contestants are male, female viewers could be left feeling slighted.
Commercialism
At stake is a "V05 Extreme Style" prize package worth $100,000.
Drug/Alcohol/Tobacco
Contestants are sometimes shown smoking and drinking alcohol to excess. In one question-and-answer segment, a model was asked to list different types of drugs; her list included marijuana and cocaine.
Altogether it's a pretty good show, there's quite a bit of humour in there, mostly at the models and some of them are just so vain and inconsiderate for other people and its just good to see and laugh at them when they go out so I advise watching just for that.
Summary: more like americas vainest people
