Advantages: Canny little show

America's next top model is obviously an American show. It is presented and executively produced by Model and talk show host Tyra Banks.

The show begins with around 10-14 contestants all girls who want to pursue their dreams of becoming America's next top model. The show goes on for about 9-13 episodes and it is on weekly on living TV Monday nights at 9pm.

At the beginning of the show we are introduced to the girls, and around about 2 weeks later they all get makeovers. I love that episode of the show where we see the girls being transformed to look more like the everyday models. Most girls that apply are the typical slim figures although there has been a few plus size girls in the competition aswell.

Each week the girls will be set a different task that ranges from cat walking, make-up applications and movement and dance. The winner of the task will get a special treat and she is normally able to take one or more friends with her to celebrate. Each week the girls also have to do a photo shoot based on a certain theme one example has been music where the girls are each given a different style of music to incorporate for instance folk and punk.

At the end of the episode the girls are brought together in front of a panel of judges Tyra being the main judge. Other judges include runway coach J Alexandra, Fashion Photographer Nigel Barker and Czech super model Paulina Porizkova. The judges will call the girls to step forward individually and show their photo shoot pictures. They will then tell the girls if they have done well or not. Once all the photos have been shown the girls will leave the room so that the judges can discuss who they think should leave the group this week. Once decided the girl will be eliminated and sent home.

I think to some people this show might seem a bit corny but I really like it, not only do you see the above but you see the lives of the girls when they are not on a photo shoot. The bickering and fighting and you can more or less get a feeling straight away to whom you will like and whom you want to go.

Like I mentioned before the whole point in the competition is for one girl to win and pocket a modelling contract aswell as some other great prizes.

Overall I like this show but I can understand where others may not.
