Advantages: good entertainment, alot of bitching and scrapping

Disadvantages: too many odd people

Firstly I would like to add that the reason I can review this programme is that I have had to watch each cycle as my wife is addicted, she even watches the re runs!.


America's next top model ( antm ) is hosted by American supermodel Tyra Banks, who I think is stunning. I have seen her figure get much fuller as the cycle's have gone on and personally I think this sends out a much better message to women and I prefer my women with a bit of meat on!



It first started in May 2003, with cycle 1 we are now on cycle 11 here and I think cycle 12 is going to start in America soon. The basic idea is that they are trying to find the next supermodel, women all over America send there audition tapes and they narrow it down to a bout twenty then pick there final twelve.

Each week they have a challenge like a make up task or something where whoever wins gets a prize this can be free stuff like clothes etc or a fancy night out. They also have a photo shoot, then at the end of the programme they meet with the judges, they have an individual evaluation and one girl gets eliminated.

The judges include Tyra ( of course ) in which I have never seen anyone make modelling into such an art? giving all her worldly advice to the girls like she's old and wise and has been there and done that, I don't know maybe she has? At the same time she does seem to empathise with the girls and is often seen giving them a hug of support or sadness, whether this is for the cameras I don't know. I always count how many times Tyra say's 'America's Next Top Model' aswell, when and if you watch it count.
You will often see her telling one of the girls on judging that they don't look like a model in person and say put your hair back and start re adjusting there clothes, what should a model look like in person? shouldn't it be up to them what they look like off the camera i don't get it?


Nigel Barker who was a model and is now a photographer who my wife absolutely swoons over. What gets me as he knows he's got it, when the girls come into judging he knows they all fancy him too and he loves it I personally think he fancies himself more.


J. Alexader who is a bit drag, he is a runway trainner ( how do you get into a proffession like that? ) he is often wearing heels and a really bad drag wig.
I suppose its what men in fashion do?


Janice Dickinson, Twiggy and Paulina Porizkova ( had to look that one up! )
have all been the 3rd judge it started with Janice, Twiggy the Paulina. Janice, well there's not much I can say about her but loud, out spoken and scary and thats on a good day. Of course Twiggy is my favourite being british and Paulina I havent seen much of yet ( luckily ive been out the past three weeks its been on )
The last judge is a guest judge whose either the photographer of the shoot or from an agency or magazine etc.

Next I come to Jay Manual he is their photo shoot director his favourite line is "she's giving me the same look" he looks so chiseled and polished and I swear he wears make up also im not sure if his hair colour is real ( it's white ). He does seem to know what he's talking about though.


I don't know what to say about Bennie Ninja ( is that his real name? )he is a posing expert, yet again how do you get a job like this? is there a college course? To me he is totally weird he's small framed and very scrawny looking


The girls get a fantastic place to stay its always a massive appartment, in which the show shows lots of footage from which always contains alot of bitching and back stabbing women are so awful to each other but these are the best bits. They also always ending up drinking too much getting in the hot tub and making out is this what women do when they get together?.


One of the best episodes is when they have their makeovers as there's always loads of tears and tantrums I think its hilarious but know what my wife is like about her hair. I supose its like men and football

The latest cycle of ANTM is on here in the UK monday night at 9pm on living, it thinks its also repeated again during the week and then again at the weekend. The old cycle's are repeated ( oh joy ) on living everyday monday to friday at 10am and 6pm.


To sum it up I didn't know there was so much to modelling, women love it, men will say they hate it but watch it anyway!
