America's Next Top Model

America's Next Top Model, is a reality TV show, where Tyra Banks (who is the presenter of the show) is searching America to find, Americas next top model! Eventually after going through lots of young women, she picks 13 to move into the Americas Next Top Model house, and to face challenges, and after 13 weeks she picks the 'winner' and the new Americas Next Top Model. The winner will win prizes, (which sometimes change every series) but they are normally a contract with cover girl cosmetics, a front page cover in a magazine, and they get signed up with a modelling agency.

Every week a girl is eliminated until there is one left, (the winner) and to help choose which girl gets eliminated is the ANTM judges. Some series have different judges every time. At the moment with the series that is on telly now there is Nigel Barker - a fashion photographer, twiggy - fashion icon, and J. Alexander - Runway trainer, and of course there is Tyra Banks - model. There is also a guest judge every week. On past series there has been judges such as Janice Dickinson, who can be very mean to the girls, however she is very entertaining to watch, and that's what makes a programme good right, if its entertaining?

Every week the girls are faced with challenges, and photo shoots, the ones who do the worse in these challenges and photo shoots are more likely to get eliminated. The photo shoots are always very creative and fun to watch being shot, they are not boring at all. There has been photo shoots where girls dress up as superheroes and were 'flying' in the sky, and photo shoots where the girls were dressed up as mermaids. The girls are also faced with all sorts of challenges such as dancing ones, to runway challenges, to personality challenges. There are all sorts to keep you entertained.

What can especially be entertaining about this programme, is that all these girls staying in a house together after 13 weeks, they can get rather bitchy towards each other. Most people probably find this annoying, however I find it funny to watch, it adds drama to the programme. I mean it would be boring if they were all quiet girls that never did anything.

There is also 'shock' events that happen on this programme which makes it all the more interesting, there has been cases where no one gets eliminated, where both of the girls in the bottom 2 get eliminated, and there has even been cases where people have chosen to leave the competition, and where people have been took into hospital as they have had an illness. Also when there are around 6 contestants remaining Tyra normally announces that they are going abroad somewhere to finish the competition. In the past the girls have gone to places such as London, Thailand and Africa! This makes the programme way more interesting!

I like that Tyra Banks presents this show, as she is not just a good presenter, she is also experienced in modelling, so she actually knows what she's talking about. Also another thing i love about this programme is the makeovers. Basically near the start of the series the girls get haircuts and makeovers to transform them to look like 'real models'. I love watching the transformation of the before and after, I don't really know why, i just think it is really interesting!

I have never wanted to be a model, I have never even thought about modelling, however I still love to watch this programme. If anyone was interested in modelling, I am sure this would probably help them a great deal! If your not interested in modelling, you may just want to watch it for entertainment reasons, like me!
