Even better than X Factor (American Idol)
Member Name: jesperado
Advantages: Crazy Paula Abdul Disadvantages: A few too many recaps This program has pretty much the same format as The X Factor and as far as I'm concerned that is no bad thing. It begins with the same audition rounds of good, bad and downright crazy contestants - the last episode I watched included a high school students with his two female cheerleaders performing a routine before he entered the judging room! It's like a extreme version of the UK programme: the good contestants are incredible, the bad ones are really awful, the crazies are completely deluded and the backstories are truly tragic. Simon Cowell is pretty much the same as he is on our show and openly laughs at the awful and crazy singers and gets the same smug smile when he notices someone who could be a star. Randy Jackson is pretty likeable and tries to be as nice as possible to the ones that haven't got it - mostly by calling everybody 'dawg' and if they're good 'da bomb'. But, Paula Abdul is the reason I love watching this show. She is even more bonkers than Sharon Osborne. Some weeks she seems so whacked out that I'm sure she is on something! Although she is crazy, she is really sweet but doesn't give anyone false hope as Sharon often did on the British show. The amount of talent on the show is incredible and the final contestants going to the live shows are often a lot better than X Factor finalists and there is a bit more variety in singing style which makes it more interesting to watch. Summary: If you like X Factor, you'll love this! |
