Advantages: Simon Cowell is amazing, Americans have raw talent.

Disadvantages: Most of the contestants that go are brilliant but it can't be helped.

I never watched American idol until the last series and was shocked at the talent on there. I have always been a fan of the X Factor and watched it for three consecutive years but when I watched this I was pleasently suprised by the brilliant singers on there. The idea of the show is that people go and audition to be on the show by singing infront of the judges. Every week, contestants sing infront of the three judges and are either sent home or put through to the next round. At the end of the programme, the public vote for the winner of the show. The winner recieves a $1 million record deal and is sometimes given a record deal by Simon Cowell depending on the circumstances. On the X factor, there are some awesome singers then a few naf ones wheras the Americans were nearly all outstanding, I don't know how the judges can choose between them! I love Simon Cowell and think he is a brilliant judge, very thorough and has some good opinions. I also really like Paula Abdul, she is brilliant to watch and is kind and nice to the contestants but also entertaining for viewers at home. Randy Jackson is a good judge and I usualy agree with his opinions on the show, I find him very likeable. Overall the show is very enjoyable, it is interesting to follow a group of people with high dreams and sit in tension as they sing and wait to see if they will get voted off or continue to the next round. I do recommend this programme to watch.

Summary: Overall this show is brilliant and very enjoyable to watch.
