Amir Khan's Angry Young MenNewest Review: ... the street causing dramas. I think Amir Khan was the ideal person to be the star of this program. As well as the fact he is an incredible rising star, he is someone to look up to and respect in my opinion, a great idol. He is a great person for motivation and encouragement, and could definitely get these young men to sort their own personal lives out and start off something new. Boxing is ... more |

Amir Kahn's Angry Young Men is a TV program featuring the rising boxing star Amir Khan and six youths picked off the streets. Each of the youths have committed crimes in one way or another and hold criminal records. Khan's aim is to transform these youths using the skills and aggression of boxing. I think this program was a great idea personally and i really enjoyed it. Not only because I'm into boxing, but like most people I hate the sight of seeing "Yobs" hanging around the street causing dramas. I think Amir Khan was the ideal person to be the star of this program. As well as the fact he is an incredible rising star, he is someone to ... Read the complete review

WHAT IS IT ABOUT: Amir Khan takes a group of six tough kids with criminal records and trains them the two things that he feels have brought his success in life: being a Muslim, and boxing. The show is a fly on the wall documentary. IS IT ANY GOOD: As a fan of boxing, I had every hope that this would be a good show - Khan is an up and coming star in the sport (not quite as good as the media makes out but he has big potential) - it seemed like the premise of a great show: sadly, it wasn't. There were three distinct areas to the programme. The first is the boxing element, where we see Amir training, and gain some interesting insights into the ... Read the complete review

I have followed the boxing career of Amir Khan quite closely, so when this programme was advertised I had to watch it. The show follows the lives of six young men who aren't the nicest of people to be honest with history of violence and anti-social behaviour. Khan believes that boxing is a great way to deal with these sorts of people because it instils discipline and respect for others through the world of sport, a valid point. The show has finished now and was only on for four weeks, but it was well worth watching and anyone who saw it will agree with me. He only had a short amount of time with the lads, but trained them many times at his home gym in Bolton, ... Read the complete review

* WHY THE SORE FACE? * Channel4 recently ran this free-part documentary with Amir Kahn trying to transform sixth youths into something more useful to society, using the sport of boxing. As you can see, this show was entitled 'Amir Kahns Angry Young Men' and it really sounded as though it could be something quite interesting. Each part ran for an hour, and followed them over four weeks, although I'm not sure which episode threw in two weeks worth of action because there was no real indication of what was going on throughout the show. The show was good at trying to make us feel sorry for each of these youths at the background they came from, although I'm not sure if ... Read the complete review
