Advantages: the journey they go through makes great viewing

Disadvantages: not on tv anymore

I have followed the boxing career of Amir Khan quite closely, so when this programme was advertised I had to watch it. The show follows the lives of six young men who aren't the nicest of people to be honest with history of violence and anti-social behaviour. Khan believes that boxing is a great way to deal with these sorts of people because it instils discipline and respect for others through the world of sport, a valid point.

The show has finished now and was only on for four weeks, but it was well worth watching and anyone who saw it will agree with me. He only had a short amount of time with the lads, but trained them many times at his home gym in Bolton, channelling their aggression in the attempt to change their personalities and with the ultimate goal of turning their mixed up lives around. It works well.

The show is concluded when the lads have to remember everything they have been taught both mentally and physically to go toe to toe with and experienced fighter from the gym. They come along way in the month they spend with Khan and all of them believe it to have been a fantastic and worth while experience. I shan't give away the outcome of the fights, but the contenders certainly learned a lot during their time at the gym, Khan was an excellent trainer and really knows his stuff.

As this was a one off series I don't think it is shown on television anymore, but I believe there is a DVD of the series available to buy. If you like sport, boxing in particular and think you'd be interested then I would definitely recommend it to you because I loved the series and my girlfriend even liked it, even though she hates boxing!
