Advantages: can be funny, decent format

Disadvantages: the presenters are quite poor

I've seen a few episodes of this show and I it drives me mad! There are two versions of the show, one hosted by Noel Edmonds during the primetime weekly slot and the other hosted by children's television presenters Dick and Dom, shown during the daytime. In theory the show should be a hit and I do know a few people who like it, but the presenters are so irritating and each episode goes so slowly, a few more questions wouldn't go a miss either!

The format of the show is actually rather good, but is spoiled by somewhat in the way the show is delivered I feel. Basically, the game is played by a single adult contestant, who tries to answer ten questions (maybe eleven if they get that far), but the twist is that all questions are lifted directly from textbooks for six to ten year old pupils. Sounds easy doesn't it, but in reality it's not and a lot of people have come unstuck and been made to look very stupid indeed on national television. There are ten topics in total and each question is related to a certain school year e.g. 3 or 4. The contestant can choose to answer the questions in any order and selects the topic area from a list presented to them beforehand. Similarly to who wants to be a millionaire the amount of prize money the contestant is due to receive increases with every correct answer and after five correct answers they are guaranteed that amount; after ten questions have been answered correctly they can risk the jackpot (daytime £50,000 & primetime £250,000).

In an attempt to make the game show more entertaining for the viewer contestants can choose a pupil to accompany them whilst they answer the questions. The pupil answers the questions too and can actually help them out if they choose to use them. Contestants have three options of help available to them and they can use each type once in the game. A peek is when the contestant gets to see the classmates answer before choosing if they are to stick with their answer or change to the classmates. A copy means the contestant automatically copies the classmates answer without seeing it first so they must trust the student in order to do this. The save works as a back-up if the contestant gets the answer wrong yet the pupil answers correctly, they are saved.

Overall, it is a reasonable show, yet watching it does become tedious after a while as the whole process seems to take ages. The best thing about the programme is some of the lines the children come out with and the amount of money that contestants can win, it matches the likes of who wants to be a millionaire and deal or no deal, especially the primetime show. Maybe worth a watch, see what you think.

Thanks for reading.

Summary: a show you may find enjoyable, on the other hand u may not
