Advantages: Large sums of money available.
Disadvantages: Noel edmonds can be annoying.
Are you smarter than a 10 year old must have been one of those shows that were really apparent but no one ever thought of it until now.
-----What is it? -----
The show consists of one adult and 5 children all aged 10, hosted by Noel Edmonds. The adult has to answer questions that have been chosen by school teachers, from the national curriculum that are specifically designed for children from the age of 6 years old to 10 years old. Now this may not sound difficult, but think how long ago it was since you were 6 years old, or even 10 years old. There are a lot of different categories that the contestant can choose from, some include biology, history, geography and music. The categories have an age next to them as well to indicate what age child the question is aimed at, some contestants think that this is rating how hard the question will be, but this is not true as it's only easy if you know the answer. The contestant chooses a child to be there for two questions each, and they also answer the questions that the adult answers. The children are there to give help and assistance to the contestant if and when they need it, but there are only 3 chances that the children can help. If the adult gets stuck on a question they can either copy, peek, or can be saved.
****Copy****
This is where the contestant can look at the answer that the 10 year old, but if they do this they adopt that answer as there own and have to lock it in.
****Peek****
The contestant can have look at the answer that the child has given but doesn't have to use it, if they don't want to. Most people do as they only use this is they don't have a clue what the answer is.
****Save****
If the contestant gets the question wrong they can be saved by the answer that the child gives, but only if the child is right.
On the odd occasion the children have been wrong but most of the time they are right, it's a risk that the contestant has to take.
The game works on a money tree system, where the first amount is £250 then it goes up with each question that is answered correctly. The safe point is £5000 once they have that they will leave with no less than that amount. Even if they get up to £100.000 and answer wrong they will plummet down to £5000, what a bummer if that happens. The most that any one person can win is £250.000 this has never happened yet. If at anytime the contestant decides that it is too risky to answer a question they can leave at any point with the money that they have won so far, but they must always say 'TV's most embarrassing confession, I am not smarter than a 10 year old.' they even have to say this is they answer a question wrong a leave with either the safety money of £5000 or nothing.
-----My Opinion-----
I actually quite like this programme, but it can be a bit slow as the contestants can sometimes take their time in answering the questions, but I guess that the producers also tell them to do that so that the show lasts the right amount of time. It must be really embarrassing though to be on there, as even when it's on I'm at home trying to answer the questions too, and I sometimes get the answers right but not very often. The money would be good but I don't think that I would like to embarrass my self on national television. Noel Edmonds is really just the same as he is on deal or no deal, I always find that there is not much variation in what he can do, and is sometimes quite tedious and boring.
Overall I would say that the programme is entertaining, when is laughing at an adult making a fool of them self not funny?
