Advantages: Good dialogue, good characters

Disadvantages: Very little of the programme has anything to do with the work they supposedly all do

First police, then hospitals, then law firms; and now dot.coms. It was only a matter of time. However, Attachments is a pretty good start for the Internet Start-Up Drama genre.

The site is "www.seethru.co.uk" - which does actually exist, in the form of what seems to be a collaboration between a real dot.com and some trading off the reputation of the programme. Not that that's very important. More relevant would be a description of the characters:

Mike & Luce - the couple in charge of the site. He a black failed musician from Peckham, she a nice white middle-class girl from - can't remember, somewhere white and middle-class.

Jake and Soph - intellectuals, the latter a lesbian (not that I'm suggesting a connection). They take cynical pops at their bosses all the time, while apparently being the only ones who do any work. Both very witty.

Reece & Brandon - chalk and cheese mates, the former an irresponsible playboy with a touch of the Jamie Oliver about him (but without the ponciness); the latter a geeky tech-head with more than a touch of the John Lennon about him (without the sex appeal). They fell out over...

Zoe - the blonde (in more than just the hair-colour sense) girl who graduated from work experience to making the coffee somehwere in the first series, in between being caught on webcam having it off with Reece, who was supposed to be setting her up with the lovestruck Brandon.

Yvonne - secretary, real b***h. Having a baby. No morre really needs to be said.

Posh bloke in suit - envoy from venture capitalists who keep the site afloat. Tried to have affair with Luce - she almost tried back - then they didn't.

Fran - recently moved out but ex-flatmate of Mike & Luce. Pretends she's deliberately single. Quite ugly, unfortunately. Never mind.

As you might expect from the name, the programme is very little do with an Internet company and chiefly concerned wit
h people's failure to get it on with the right person. However, they have enough characters, who are sufficiently different from one another, to make that a perfectly workable basis for a series of perfectly watchable programmes. I'm looking forward to the second series...

Excellent opinion. Great summing up of the series. Like you, I can't wait for the next series.
