The now classic Auf Wiedersehen PET is currently being shown in its entirety at 9pm Sunday?s on UK Gold. The original series of PET was shown back in 1983 with a second series following 2 years later in 1985 and more recently a third series in 2002.

Characters

Dennis Patterson - Tim Healy - Dennis takes on the role as leader of the hut and seems to be the one the lads look to no matter where they are. He's always helping the others to sort out their problems even though he's go a few himself. Divorced twice Dennis lives with his Sister in Newcastle.

Neville Hope - Kevin Whatley - Out of work Brickie Nev travels to Germany with Oz and Dennis after they find a job for two Brickies and a Carpenter. However as all three are Brickies Nev is left with the Carpenters job. He's married to Brenda with 2 girls.

Oz - Jimmy Nail - Oz is the main troublemaker in the group always trying to cause problems with anyone he doesn't know. He like Dennis is divorced but also has a son. Out of the lot Oz speaks with the strongest Geordie Accent within which there were a few catch phrases.

Bomber - Pat Roach - Bomber is the biggest of the group so is often relied on to get them out of trouble after Oz has got them into it. Has a large family back home in Bristol. Introduces Oz and Dennis to the local Red Light district in Dusseldorf.

Barry Tayor - Timothy Spall - Barry from the Midlands is probably the most boring of the lads and tries his hardest to stay out of trouble, often failing. Apart from this we don?t really find out too much about Barry.

Moxey - Christopher Fairbank - Moxey is always on the run from the law, a convicted arsonist from Kirby he unlike Barry can't keep himself out of trouble.

Wayne - Gary Holton - Wayne was a cheeky cockney with a lot of charm who got his way with any women he fancied. Unfortunately Gary Holton died from an OD in Spain towards the end of series 2.

Wyman - Noel Clarke - We get introduced to Wyman at the start of the 3rd series as he is Wayne's son. He then gets involved in Oz?s idea and joins the lads.

Series One

The first series follows the lad's relationships in Germany with each other, the Germans, Turks and each other. It also shows the ways the lads working out in Germany tried to fill there time while trying to save some money and ordering food in German Curry Houses and don't forget a lot of drinking.
The series ends with the lads having to choose whether to go home or stay on in Germany after changes to the employment laws.

Series Two

The Second series made 2 years later sees the boy's back together to rebuild a house for Barry and the impending Mrs Taylor. However Barry's wedding is called off and the boys find more work heading off to Derbyshire to refurbish a Stately home. However trouble follows them as usual and they end up being packed off to Spain by Tyneside gangster Ally Fraiser.
In Spain they are working on Ally's Swimming Pool at his Villa but end up getting themselves in trouble with the tabloids. But despite all the mishaps and cock-ups along the way the lads still manage some serious drinking and get the building work done.

Series Three

And so onto the latest series, which sees the lads reunited as Oz fakes a funeral to get them all to one place again. The job this time involves the lads dismantling the Middlesborough Transporter Bridge. When the deal with land owner Jeffrey Grainger falls through the lads decided to buy the bridge for scrap but end up selling it to a Native American Tribe.
So they are off to Arizona to re-erect the bridge and the usual drinking and trouble seems to follow them again. Including being arrested for Drug smuggling.

A timeless comedy which just seems to get funnier every time you see it. Make sure you check it out on UK Gold.

Nice summary there - I've never really watched it before, but it seems to be one of those few ressurected shows that actually works (unlike The Liver Birds for example...).
