Advantages: Great effects

Disadvantages: Dragged on too long

Babylon 5 was probably the best sci fi ever, the long running story arc made it stand out against such competition as Star Trek with it's tidy ending to every episode.
The series long main plot was quite spooky at times with the 2 surviving 'old' races trying to push their own interests onto the 'younger' races in their own way.
The Shadows wanted to encourage conflicts between the races so that the strong could take their place at the lead.
The Vorlons wanted to increase the spiritual side of the younger races.
Eventually the Vorlon/Shadow conflict came to a head in some of the best sci fi ever seen, then as a twist the Vorlons decided to wipe out all races that had been touched by the Shadows....
Added to this story arc we saw the psychic struggle, the battle against the corrupt Earth leadership, also the independence struggle's of Mars and Babylon 5 itself.
Problems for the series were a drippy hippy psychic troublemaker 'Byron' and one or two dodgy story lines ran after the end of the Vorlon-Shadow and Earth war's (The series should have finished then but sadly dragged on).

This op is a little hard to understand as I don't watch the programme.

It did kind of fizzle out a little, good op :)

I think series four was the best. The problem with the story arc thing was that if you missed one or two episodes it was difficult to know what was going on.
