Advantages: Superb acting, Compelling plots, compulsive watching

Disadvantages: Only on once a week, About to finish, Have to wait another year for series 5

I wrote the original op (below)at the beginning of series 4, but now feel compelled to update it. It has surpassed all expectations and has completely blown me away. I am gutted and I cannot stress this enough that it is finishing next Thursday. I watch the soaps but they are not a patch on the action and emotion packed into Bad Girls. Yvonne has stolen the series in my opinion. Linda Henry who plays her is an exceptional actress whose one liners are classic. Lengthy ops can be a bit off putting, so i'll simply list the highlights for me. Let me know your thoughts and we'll mourn its departure together!!!!!!!!!!

- Yvonne being framed for Virginia's death
- Yvonne's escape attempt
- Jim waking up to find Neil in his bed
- Sylvia's computer class, so funny!!!
- Maxi trying to strangle Yvonne in the laundry.
- Everyone turning against Jim, him storming out of the staff room, Yvonne putting the boot in.
- Bukki and Baxter, so emotional!!
- The fight between Shaz and Maxi
- Maxi's death/ body on the trolly/funny in a kind of sick way.
- News of Denni's mom dying


The most disgusting bit has to be when the cockroaches came through the plaster in the wall, that made me ill, I shudder to think even now. I thought eating them was bad until this.

I can't wait for the new series, but i'll have to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No one seems to have written an opinion about this series so I thought I would. Often the first series of a drama is good, but then the quality dwindles later on, this is not the case with Bad Girls, or indeed prison dramas generally.

I enjoyed Prisoner Cell Bloch H despite at times dodgy sets, iffy acting and outrageous plots. The reason it was so successful is because characters came and went on a regular basis. Often, especially in soaps, characters simply plod on with weak storylines simply because they don'
;t want to leave, or producers can't think of a reason for their departure. It is difficult to evacuate a large number of cast members at one time, without an over the top storyline like the Emmerdale Plane Crash. With a prison drama however they simply serve their time and get out, or get transferred to another prison.

I watched the first series of Bad Girls out of curiousity and was very impressed. It was high drama and exceptional acting throughout. The second series was equally as impressive, if not slightly better and last series took some beating. It had more episodes, which made me think producers were again opting for quantity rather than quality. This was not the case, I only wish there had been more. The wait for this, the 4th series was agonising after a series of cliff hangers. With the departure of a number of original characters, Nikki Wade Helen Stewart and Shell Dockley it was uncertain whether this series would be up to parr.

Well 4 episodes in, I can say so far so good. The who killed Virginia O'Kane plot has been gripping, I only wish it could have lasted a bit longer. I think the story lines and acting are of a very high standard and only hope it remains so throughout the rest of the series. It certainly beats anything else on the TV at the moment, I mean who wants to keep on seeing cookery, gardening and make over programmes? The dramas do nothing for me either, they lack originality, simply churning out similar formats.

Prison Dramas might well have been done before, but there is nothing bland or mundane about Bad Girls, it is better than ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
