Advantages: Balamory is a fun yet educational program, set in a wonderful location, particularly for the young!

Disadvantages: Precise age range

Balamory is one of the BBC's many child programs designed specifically for the educational benefits of younger children. Unlike others, such as the teletubbies et al, it manages to entertain and educate in a non-patronising and non-aggressive manner, which is certainly a breath of fresh air nowadays!

Balamory is shot off the west coast of Scotland and portrays an idyllic strong community spirit for viewers. The program grasps upon various community roles, varying from school teachers to bus drivers and policemen. A novel idea is the participation of nursery and young children in the actual show. Having said this it is however, important to emphasise that this program is only really suitable for younger children and as such may lack some of the excitement that older children look for.

Overall Balamory is a splendid program well worth putting your younger children infront of, as it is good clean fun, while also being educational. Tune in on CBBC to find out for yourself!!

Summary: Balamory is the story!
