Interesting facts
---------------------
Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull was selected for the Children's T.V programme Balamory, because of its beautiful location, and, more importantly, its multi-coloured houses. The theme of the programme is based around what happens in and around each coloured house.
Many of the coloured houses actually exist and are positioned in, and around, the town of Tobermory. However, because the main studios are down in Glasgow, the Nursery School shots are taken there. Also the castle belonging to Archie, the inventor is not on the island and is at Fenton Tower in North Berwick.
Characters/House colour/Occupation
-----------------------------------------------
Miss Hoolie-- Green House-- Nursery carer
PC Plum -- White House -- Policeman
Spencer -- Orange House -- Painter,musician
Josie Jump -- Yellow House -- Into exercise and keeping fit
Penny Pocket & Susie Sweet -- Red House-- Local Shop Owners
Archie -- Pink Castle -- Inventor
Edie McCredie -- Blue House-- Bus driver and fixes things.
Basics of this programme
--------------------------------
The stories always starts with Miss Hoolie in her nursery with the children. One of the other character's alway's visits her and who ever that character is,the story will be based on them. They always need some kind of help and that help being from one of the other characters. So for example say this character who went to Miss Hoolie is Archie and he would like to keep fit,Miss hoolie adivises him that it would be good for him to go see Josie Jump who is into fitness. When Archie leaves Miss Hoolie,Miss Hoolie then says to us,"So,what colour house do you think Archie will visit today?" And your child is then left to guess what colour house Josie lives in.And the story goes from there.Always then ending back with Miss Hoolie going over the story with us and saying goodbye.
My children sits and watches it from start to finish, and I can get on with some quick chores,so it is great for me.I must admit, the storylines are very good learning for the children of colours and occupations.Even though this show does seem abit weird to us adults,it is good and fun for the children
Summary: A programmes about colour, occupations and fun, great for the kids.
