Advantages: bright colours, songs, dancing

Disadvantages: The sickly voices bore me

We came across this little show on the BBC Iplayer and my son has loved it ever since. He'll come out to the kitchen while I'm doing the dishes and say 'Ba, ba' whilst pointig to the living. This is his way of asking if he can watch it. He's not even two yet and he can sing the 'baaaaaaaaaaaaaaalaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamoooooooooooooore eeeeeeeeeeeeee' bit in tune to a t! Ah bless him!

The programme consist of quite a few quirky characters who live in the Scotish town of Balamory.
Miss Hoolie is the nursery school teacher and she is the one who always starts the programme.
Josie Jump lives in the yellow house and loves anything sporty.
Archie the Inventor lives in the pink house and guess what? He likes to invent and wears a very feminine pink jumper.
PC Plum is Balamory's famous detective and will help you find anything. Miss Hoolie's pet name for him is Plummy.
There's also Spencer who is an artist and musician, Edie Mcredie who has drives the mini bus and likes to travel and suzie sweep and Penny pocket who run the village shop and cafe.

Each episode starts with Miss Hoolie walking into the nursery and telling us what sort of a day it is. If it's sunny she sticks a sun up on the board but nine times out of ten its wet. Then you watch all of the nursery children get off of the bus and Miss Hoolie goes through all of there names.

Every episode there's some sort of adventure - perhaps something has gone missing and PC Plum needs to investigate, or Archie needs to invent a replacement. Whatever the need, the larger than life characters sort it all out.

My 2 year old son loves this show - it's bright and colourful, the characters talk in a sickly voice just for kids, and there are songs and dances too.

For an adult, it can be very dull and repetitive, so only put it on if you have something else to do!

Summary: Kids will love it!

When we went to Tobermory my nephew went mental because he recognised all the buildings but was most upset that Archie's castle wasn't there.
