Advantages: Funny
Disadvantages: Wooden acting
This is the 60's camp version rather than the dark brooding character of the comic and recent cinema fame that bought Batman back into the limelight.
The TV show followed a 30 minute two parter format where at the end of episode one Batman often found himself at the mercy of whichever villan he was up against whilst episode two would see him utilise some gadget on the utility belt to escape and then thwart the evil plans of the criminal mater minds although to be honest master mind would be stretching it as they always failed to see through the attempt to kill Batman and his faithful side kick Robin.
Adam West took on the rather rotund character of Batman and he certainly filled the suit whilst Robin (Bert Ward) was stick like and puny in comparison. All of the usual villains appeared such as the Joker, Riddler and Catwoman as well as my own favourite the Mad Hatter.
This was a more humourous version with loads of corny lines and rather wooden acting that was more solid than some of the sets, also in the fight scenes they loved to put across the screen such words as Kapow and Bam to signify the punches and also to cover up the gap between fist and target as the stunts were poor to say the least.
As a piece of entertainment it is harmless enough with a viewpoint of a groovy time where TV show makers did not take themselves too seriously.
Summary: 60's TV show
