Advantages: Metal Carnage
Disadvantages: Boring
It has always worried me slightly that Americans manage to mess things up so collosally. This program has done nothing to avert my concerns. TV shows are created these days with one thing in mind - Ratings. If a show doesn't get the ratings it should for a decent show at that time of day it is taken off the air. Robot Wars has proved that the concept of getting big robots to beat the living daylights out of each other can work, so why did the American's mess it up so badly? It's difficult to decide - the commentary is abysmal, the fighting is plain boring. The show is basically the same, yet somehow lacks any of the impact of Robot Wars. I have never felt compelled to watch BattleBots. If it is on, I will watch on the off chance that an English bot will be on, but that' the only reason. I can't work out why - but this show is one of the worst I have ever seen. Do youselves a favour, wait for Robot Wars to return...

- 19/06/01 Can't say I'm that big a fan of the Robot Wars type. When RW first came out I thought it was genius but I've just gotten bored with it lately. This latest imported variety is by far the worst. Just show a Simpsons repeat would ya? |

- 19/06/01 Agreed although I have noticed a show called robot olympics on during the daytime, worth a look even if just to see a robot try to do the long jump! Theres also swimming in a pool, running, climbing a rope and other similar events. A great show without a doubt, although still not able to beat robot wars. Steve |

- 19/06/01 Well - i reckon the reason the American version is so bad is the quality of the robots. A lot of the brit ones have an eccentric cobble together quality, yet the americans once again go for world domination and spend thousands of dollars on,by comparison, military technology! They are too powerful and engineered to be considered fun, and that's why it's a wasted show. It isn;t about the awesome might of engineering, but the good old fashioned inventiveness and team spirit! Good op btw. |
