Advantages: Good viewing

Disadvantages: A bit corny

Although old and now tacky this is nearly as good as Star Trek in my opinion. I never set out to watch Battlestar Gallactica and whenever I do I think, not really any good but I leave it on for 5 mins and then just get hooked, it’s simply compulsive viewing. The basic plot it is very original. It tells the tale of how Earth is simply a colony of a distant human race. This human race is at war with the cylons (those wonderful metal robots with flashing visors) and is nearly destroyed by them, the remaining group fly off in their battlestar and head for Earth followed by these nasty robots.

It’s really tacky but fun. The space combat now looks dated but was supreme for the time of release, the overall sets were good too, but for me it’s the over acting of Starbug and the Commander that makes it great. There are some corny and funny lines rolled in too to give an excellent 45 mins of viewing.

For all you sci-fi fans give this one a go – you may even like it.
