Newest Review: ... In my opinion this programme doesnt even compare to the "real thing" as with Animal Hospital etc etc, but it does give us a break from the docusoap style one's. I was rather hoping that after the HUGE surge in people applying for vet schools now-a-days that seeing a vet in his job that hated his career would put some people off, however, wishful thinking, seen as Liverpool Uni still have around 2000 applicants for just that one course, when there is only room for 90! (Hmmm, very wishful thinking that was then!) However - this programme hasnt put me off at all! Although programmes with animals are generally all suited to... more

Premium Review Beast: Animal hospital - the comedy version! (403 words)

Generally Beast is about a guy called Nick who plays the part of a seriously disillusioned vet, who basically hates animals! Hence he isnt too keen on his career! Ive wanted to be a vet for years now (studying A-levels) and would still LOVE to go to vet school....however after all the recent trend in the docusoaps about vets - e.g. Animal Hospital, Animal ER, Vets School, Vets In Practical, Vets in the Wild....to name but a few! Its actually a refreshing change to see a vets side of things from a different viewpoint. In my opinion this programme doesnt even compare to the "real thing" as with Animal Hospital etc etc, but it does give us a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Talk to the animals but don't get too close! (224 words)

Beast is a really funny comedy. It is sometimes a bit cruel-soundiong when it comes to animals but it all neant as a joke. No one should take it seriously. This is actually one of the best comedy programmes to come out of the BBC for a long time. Alex Armstrong plays a vet in a small country town. much of the humour comes from the fact that Alex doesn't actually like animals very much and he is often afraid of them. The whole idea of a vet who is scared of animals is quite funny in itself. There isn't really anything in this programme to cause offense but more sensitive souls might not like it because of the cruel jokes about animals. Kids ...  Read the complete review

Beast started around 18 months ago. It is shown on BBC one. You can see it on a Saturday night and believe me, its worth cancelling your plans for. Beast is a comedy programme with Alexander Armstrong as the main star. He plays a vet who owns a small business in a village. The only things is that he hates animals and is actually scared of some. This is used a lot in the story lines becuase it is so origional and highly ammusing. The programme also stars Doon MacKichan. She is receptionist and if you like 'Smack the pony' which she stars in then you will love this even more. I have watch Beast from the first eppisode that was on until ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Beast-ly Good Laugh (509 words)

It`s been a long time since I watched a British made comedy that caused me to laugh out aloud so many times as "Beast".I thought programmes of the like of "Dads Army" or "Fawlty Towers" were a thing of the past but then, like buses, two of them come along at the same time,"Kiss me Kate" and the aforementioned "Beast". "Beast" comes from the highly rated stable os Simon Nye,he of "Men Behaving Badly" fame and if you want the story-line in a nutshell its simply about the lives and loves of the staff of a small country vets practice.Mind you what lives and events colour the proceedings! ...  Read the complete review

Warning this review contains several bad animal puns. If this has not put you off then read on. Beast is now in it’s second series and already it’s proving to be a top dog in the sitcom field. It has a good pedigree, written by Men Behaving Badly scribe Simon Nye and starring rising comedy stars Alexander Armstrong (The Armstrong and Miller Show) and Doon Mackichan (Smack the Pony). Set in a small veterinary practice in a small town somewhere out in the countryside, the Cotswolds I think. You may think that because of one successful sitcom Nye might make a dogs dinner out of another although he did pen the overlooked Is it Legal? which I always ...  Read the complete review
