Advantages: Funny, Good acting
Disadvantages: None really
Generally Beast is about a guy called Nick who plays the part of a seriously disillusioned vet, who basically hates animals! Hence he isnt too keen on his career! Ive wanted to be a vet for years now (studying A-levels) and would still LOVE to go to vet school....however after all the recent trend in the docusoaps about vets - e.g. Animal Hospital, Animal ER, Vets School, Vets In Practical, Vets in the Wild....to name but a few! Its actually a refreshing change to see a vets side of things from a different viewpoint. In my opinion this programme doesnt even compare to the "real thing" as with Animal Hospital etc etc, but it does give us a break from the docusoap style one's. I was rather hoping that after the HUGE surge in people applying for vet schools now-a-days that seeing a vet in his job that hated his career would put some people off, however, wishful thinking, seen as Liverpool Uni still have around 2000 applicants for just that one course, when there is only room for 90! (Hmmm, very wishful thinking that was then!) However - this programme hasnt put me off at all! Although programmes with animals are generally all suited to or for children, this is one that is not! There are generally some subtle lines in there at some points. Generally id say its more suited to adolescents and adults. Generally it is very daft, but funny! We have one vet who is rather stuck up, specialises in equine veterinary treatment. The others think she is a lesbian...which makes it all the more funny when they're trying to get whether she is or not out of her, but without her realising! We have the receptionist. She comes out with some very funny lines! We the have another male vet in the practice. And then the trainee vet nurse, who generally goes through some very weird phases....particularly the "im not going to wash, ever, after all - animals dont take baths" phase. (Pretty st
range, but funny!) Generally its one of the "you either love it or you hate it" categories this programme, so ive seen, I love it. Id give it a thumbs up! Definately worth tuning in for!

- 18/05/01 Sounds interesting, I previously missed this after the TV guide constantly said how bad it was but after hearing a few good reviews I might have to give it a watch. |
