Advantages: hillarious, very entertaining and interesting

Disadvantages: can be quite awkward to watch at times

Many things that are a hit in the USA soon make their way over the pond to the UK and the television series Beauty and the Geek is no exception. It was dubbed 'the ultimate social experiment' which frankly I think is a little over the top. The aim of the show is very simple.....to entertain. It matches extremely attractive yet intellectually lacking women with stereotypically 'geeky' looking, socially awkward men who are ultra intelligent. In their pairs which are decided at the start of the show, which is a series, the ladies have to conquer a number of mental challenges, while the men have to show prowess in some difficult social situations, it's very funny if a little harsh at times because both are made to do things they really don't want to. Another aspect of being 'a pair' means they have to share a room for the entirety of the series and as some rooms only have a double bed this sometimes mean sharing, which obviously causes a few arguments. There are seven beauties and seven geeks in total.

Although it sounds like a bit of a laugh to you and me the competition does start to get serious after a while. The winners of each challenge get to choose one team to enter an elimination round against the other chosen team, the team with the least points after three rounds of questioning is evicted from the house and has to leave the show. Here's the best bit, the last remaining team wins £40,000 which they split between them, you can see why the rivalry heats up.

I've seen the show several times and think it's great. At the beginning things are very awkward between the couples, but as the weeks go buy they begin to develop relationships and learn things about each others stereotypes that they never thought they would. Each episode lasts for approximately fifty minutes of which there have been six. It was originally shown on E4 I believe, but is occasionally repeated on channel 4.

I would definitely recommend this show to anybody who likes shows such as Big Brother, X-Factor, Strictly Come Dancing or Castaway. It's very funny and extremely entertaining.

Thanks for reading.

Summary: a great show, definitely worth watching
