Advantages: great fantasy

Disadvantages: none

Bewitched ran from Sept 17th 1964 to July 1st 1972 and told the story of Samantha Stevens and her family. Samantha was a witch and married to a Mortal (husband Darrin). They have two witchy children during the series run; Tabitha and Adam. Samantha has promised darrin that she will try not to use her magic, but of course, this never works.

The series works well because there are a strong supporting cast of characters, including Endora (Samantha's mother) Larry Tate (Darrin's boss) and Uncle Arthur - Endora's brother.

Samantha was playes By Elizabeth Montgomery, and Darrin was played first by Dick Yorks and Later by Dick Sargent. Tabitha has several actresses play her initially but eventually she was played solely by Erin Murphy.

The series still works today because it is largely a fantasy show and therefore escapes being too badly dated. During its long run it reused many plot themes and even reused a couple of episodes in their entirity!

Sadly most of the main cast have now passed away - Elizabeth Montgomery herself died on May 18th 1995- but the show lives on as a wonderful legacy to the talent of everyone who worked on it.

I used to watch Bewitched when I was a child, just like my mum before me! Didn't realise it was still being screened though!
