Advantages: Good characters

Disadvantages: not as funny as it could be

The Big Bang Theory is broadcast on E4 in the UK, but it was on a holiday in the US that I discovered this hilarious programme as it's an american sitcome, directed by Chuck Lorre, who also produces Two and a Half Men.

The programme is focused on four really nerdy science geeks, two of which are room-mates. These two are the main characters: Leonard, who is in love with the girl next door, the gorgeous Penny, and Sheldon who is possibly the most irritating man on the planet! He seems to lack any understanding of humour and has a rather overblown impression of himself: the source of much comedy in this programme. Howard and Raj are the two other main characters: both socially inept and impossible with girls, which is really a good source of laughs!

There have been three series so far and all have been successful ratings wise. It has won a good few awards, but mostly little ones, and it does remain a rather under the radar comedy. Still, it's a little gem in my eyes and never fails to make me laugh! Especially as the characters are so true to life...
