Disadvantages: did get a bit samey after a while

Big Break was a game show based around the game of snooker, mixed with the normal game show elements ,like questions and prizes.

The show ran from 1991 to 2002, the show was presented by Jim Davidson and john Virgo a former snooker player.

The show was broken down in to four sections
RED HOT
After introducing and chatting to each constant, the contestant picked a ball from a bag (all the balls being different colours). Each ball represented a professional snooker player.
The contestant was then asked questions each question equalling time. The amount of time they won gave their snooker player time to pot as many of the red balls on the table as they could.
The contestant whose snooker player potted the fewest balls was out of the game.

VIRGO'S TRICK SHOT
This was a mini game for a contestant who just lost at the red hot round. John Virgo would set up a trick shot for the player if they got it they won a prize.

POCKET MONEY
The next round the contestants could win money bythe snooker player potting as many snooker balls as they could in ninety seconds in the right order (according to snooker rules) and each ball had the value of money so the more they potted the more money they got. but if they missed a ball the contestant had to answer a question before they could carry on potting

MAKE OR BREAK
In this round contestants could win a variety of prizes. Contestants where given 90 seconds to answer 5 questions, each correct answer allowed one red ball to be removed from the table. After the questions the remaining time was given to the snooker player to clear the table with one red ball and each coloured ball representing a prize.

I remember watching this with my dad he liked it because he was a snooker fan and I like it because of the way Jim and john bounced of each other, I thought they where very funny.

This show would properly bore people to day but in its day it was one of the more interesting game shows on and worth a watch

Summary: an ok show for its time
