Advantages: The best man won in the end!

Disadvantages: Anna put on an act which fooled everyone.

What can I say about big brother? Personally I did not see what all the fuss was about. It was supposed to be a breakthrough in television history. A new idea. An exclusive in depth probe into the lives of regular people. Excuse me but forcing 10 people, who have never even set eyes on each other before, to live in a small cramped house, isolated from their loved ones and the rest of world with no music, games or television and minimal allowences for food for a whole nine weeks is not a television breakthrough, it's just plain cruel.
Besides which, this type of programme has already been done before, and in my opinion, done much better in programmes such as 'The Real World' and even Sky 1's 'The Villa'. Both these programmes were set in environments which were far more realistic than the one that the big brother team tried to create and they actually dealed with the highs and lows of everyday life that normal people have to deal with wether it be at home or on holiday.
I thought big brother was a huge waste of time, money and resources and it was just plain boring on most occasions. Anyway, I'm not writing to complain about the actual programme itself, I'm writing to complain about one of the contestants, Anna. Am I the only one who could see through her little act? Anna, the lesbian former nun and stripper from Ireland was the bookmakers number one choice to win Big Brother right from the start and the papers even called her the most loved woman in Britain at one point.
Anna seemed sweet and innocent all the way through Big Brother right up until near the end where she showed a crack in her armour. When the newest addition to the Big Brother house, Clare, was brought in to replace 'Nasty' Nick Bateman, you could see that both Anna and her 'partner in crime' at the time, Mel, both feeled threatened by busty Clare's presence.
That was when Anna showed her true colours. Clare got to stay in the
house for one full week before being allowed to nominate anyone or be nominated herself but during her second week in the house it looked like she was definitely 'for the boot' so to speak. During the nominations for Clare's second week an unfortunate event occured. Darren (who had nominated Craig and Mel at first) said his nominations a little bit too loud and everyone else in the house heard him. This resulted in everyone having to nominate again and Darren changed one of his nominations from Mel to Clare. Darren changed his nomination because he felt guilty about nominating Mel instead of Clare but if he had not changed it then Mel would have been up for eviction instead of Clare.
And this is where my opinion on Anna started out. After the group had nominated for the second time, Anna went into the diary room and qouted 'After today my opinions on certain people have definitely changed'. She was referring to Craig and Darren as the nearly the whole group had told everyone else who they had nominated the first time.
Anna explained that she didn't understand how Craig and Darren could have nominated herself and Mel for eviction instead of Clare as they had been through so much together and Clare had only been there for just over a week. She said she felt 'betrayed' and that although Clare was a 'lovely girl' she felt like Clare was an 'imposter' to the group. My exact words when I heard Anna say this were 'What a selfish, scheming b**ch!'. I couldn't believe these words were coming out of the mouth of someone who seemed to be so nice.
I won't say any more about the reasons I dislike Anna but I will say that I'm glad she didn't win. I'm sure all those Anna fans out there have been silenced after finding out why the winner, Craig, was really taking part but part of me also wishes that Anna had won instead of Craig because not only would all the people who voted for Anna be ove
rcome with guilt when they inevitably found out that she had robbed a sick little girl of the chance to be well again but also because Channel 4 would probably receive so much hate mail from the public about not saying why Craig was taking part in the first place, that they would probably fork out the entire sum needed by Craig to have that poor little girl treated in America.
