Advantages: Something to watch over the summer
Disadvantages: Gets boring
Big Brother 9 has not long finished so I thought I would write a review on the program this year. When this series started I thought I am not going to watch it but like other years you get sucked in.
Alexandra - she got kicked out rather early on due to her bullying and threatening behaviour. She was rather opinionated and liked to start rows which could be seen from very early on.
Belinda - all she did was sing jazz music all the time. It gets annoying after a while plus she is always saying 'Belinda, Belinda, Belinda'. I felt sorry for the other housemates as she snored so loud.
Dale - is arrogant and thinks he is better looking than he actually is. He was a lot quieter in the house than his profile would make you think. He did stand up to other people in the house when he seen fit though to protect Jennifer. They both had a relationship blooming however the last I heard since leaving the house it has all ended after their magazine deal!
Darnell - he flew off the handle and swore all the time, but I always liked him. He seemed to be genuine but slightly confused at what he wanted from life. He was fun loving and would get the house going whether that was for starting arguments or getting a party started.
Dennis - he was kicked out after spitting in Mohammad's face which I felt was totally out of line. He was very camp and liked to dance and sing all the time like he was at the theatre. In general he annoyed me with his arrogant attitude.
Jennifer - a very girly girl who has a bit of an attitude. She got people's back up by having a row and making a big deal out of her painting being smudged. Jennifer started a relationship with Dale but they had their ups and downs and since leaving the house they have decided not to be together. A lot of people are of the opinion that she just did it for the attention.
Katreya - a fun loving girl from Thailand who is extremely bubbly. She always seems happy and sings that she wants a 'Happy happy happy house' all the time. Kat values her friends a lot as well as cookies. She is quirky and likes to enjoy herself.
Lisa & Mario - they joined the house together however got split up when Mario was voted out. Mario seems macho, vein and bossy which rubbed some people up the wrong way. When they first arrived in the house Mario had to pretend to be going out with Stephanie which causes rows from the beginning. Lisa did not rise to it and dealt with the situation very well. Lisa is a former bodybuilder and likes to exercise to keep fit. Once Mario left she dealt well being by herself and made good friends with latecomer Sara. They both had to play a game to win £50,000 and decided to share the money and both won £25,000 each. Near the end of the show Mario came back into the house to ask Lisa to marry him and she accepted.
Luke & Rebecca - an argumentative person who liked to stir rows. Him and Becca got together and he pined for her lots once she left. He doesn't swear or drink but he definitely likes to cause a stir and controversy. Rebecca was loud mouthed and swore a lot. She pure tortured Luke and romance started to happen. She liked to strip and drink a lot.
Maysoon - she was really quiet and seemed sweet. She came in late and never seemed to gel with anyone or like the place that much. She ended up walking out as she was unhappy not making much of an impression on anyone.
Michael - he had lost his sight before coming into Big Brother and during his stay had confronted people about how they treated him because he was. He ended up coming second in the finale and to be honest I was surprised that he didn't win. It was hard not to like Mickey as he just told things the way they were if he didn't like anyone he didn't make any bones about it. Its hard to forget him eating the hottest chilli ever and the faces he made was hilarious. He made you laugh and was enjoyable to watch.
Mohamed - known as greedy Mo as all he ever done was eat, eat and eat. Plus he was very fond of sleeping. Mo was easy going yet he got into some rows during his stay in Big Brother. At the same time he was hard not to like as you felt that everyone was picking on him all the time.
Rex & Nicole - Rex is a chief and so everyone heard about it all the time. He yapped at the start that he missed his beautiful girlfriend Nicole so much! Also that he wanted to go home. So Big Brother decided to put Nicole in. Rex changed to be even more bitchy and nasty, she brought out the worst in him. Nicole seemed like a she thought she was a princess and everyone owed her. She rubbed people the wrong way and was selfish and seemed like she loved herself. Once she left Rex went back to his normal cheeky chap self still annoying some people with his comments but you could see a softer side to him.
Sara - was a latecomer and her and Darnell seemed to have a relationship blossoming. Sara had to deal with being the butt of everyone's jokes which she felt hard to deal with from time to time. Rex kept telling her that her voice was ever so annoying. Sara won £25,000 when her and Lisa had to play a game and they both decided to share.
Stephanie - was the first evicted after he secret mission to pretend her and Mario was together. She behaved like a child with her strops.
Stuart - another latecomer who was generally rather quiet. He seemed to be a gentle caring person.
Syliva - a very argumentative person which didn't really work in her favour.
Rachael - the winner of Big Brother 9. She seemed to be on happy pills all the time and had a reputation of sitting on the fence. She never really got into many rows or have an opinion on anything.
Big brother had a new theme this year of heaven and hell. Each week different housemates were put into the different areas. They had a jail to punish housemates who broke the rules as well. This year it seemed to have lots of different couples and romances happening whether they last remains to be seen. I'm not sure if they will last many more seasons. I felt Davina had sort of lost the knack of presenting it but this may have been because they were giving her rubbish lines to read out. They really have lost the element of surprise as you are expecting all the twists to happen. I am not sure of they could make it another year really. It fills in the summer with something to watch but people are starting to get bored with it. I thought it was ridiculous that nearly everyone got booed and was totally shocked that Rachel won and even she got booed and she was the winner. It would make you feel that the show was rigged but maybe not. If there was something else more interesting on the television I would watch it instead.
Summary: Starting to lose its appeal

- 11/09/08 I stopped watching this after series 1, mainly due to a lack of a TV, but when I bought my first one last year I couldn't bring myself to watch it. I just read the gossip in Heat instead... |
