As I have just found out the newest series of Big Brother is starting I thought I would add my comments onto the show, how is works and what has been keeping it running for almost a decade now.

I have to admit that it was exciting when it first hit our screens which let us observe other human behaviour without any contact with the outside world but now you know what to expect. Now people know the whole concept and what to expect, they know how to play infront of the cameras for publicity and people would do anything for that.

Personally, I think this show is terrible but I can see how it is entertaining. It is full of pre-madonnas and self centred people who are trying to get their 15 minutes in the spot light but never realise it doesn't even last that long.

Big brother is a reality TV show with usually up to 16 "housemates" with their eye on one thing, the £100,000 prize money they recieve for winning. This show goes on for around 3 months and each week they go through some drueling tasks which put them to their limits and in most occassions people break down.

The main host is Davina Mccall but a few years ago they started up Big Brother's Little Brother (BBLB) who was hosted by Dermet O'leary but as he stood down, George Lamb has taken over his position. I have seen him once and I have to say that he is not as great at hosting this show even though I thought it was terrible to start with.

What happens is that people from throughout the country from different regions and cultures and are all put together into the house and in all cases, their personalities clash, this is for the entertainment of the viewers and I believe this is the soul reason that this show has stayed alive for so long. Now, over 20 countries hold their own versions of Big Brother.

There are cameras watching their every move, placed all around the house which I like to refer to as a prison and most forget the cameras are even there or in some cases people do remember they just like acting up. Every week the housemates nominate the two people they think do not deserve to stay in the house and the people with the highest votes go onto the weekly eviction, this is hosted by Davina who says her most famous line "You are live on Big Brother, please do not swear". She announces the person who is to be evicted and they are to leave the house within the next 30 minutes, after this she interviews them and shows them their best clips whilst in the house.

The show also has twists, people can be put into the house without anybody knowing and there has also been weekly tasks where people can be immune from nominations if they win. These are all spontanious.

There is also a "celebrity" Big Brother that lasts a few weeks too. This has people who are not that famous appearing on who get payed for it, last year Eurika Johnson won, to my amazement.

One of my biggest problems with Big Brother is that I do not like it but whenever I turn on the telly it is on, whatever time of the day. The eviction nights are on a Friday at around 9pm on Channel 4 and daily it shows highlights from the day before.

I really do not enjoy Big Brother as it is very predictable and boring. I usually watch the launch night and the final but I only ever watch it if boredom strikes and there is nothing else to do and when Big Brother is on there is a very limited amount of programmes on due to this.

Big Brother in my opinion should have been stopped after the first few years of being made. Now, it is for attention from the media and people on every series have slept with each other and they need to just have a bit of dignity, this is something I do not want to see and many others do not either.

I can see why people get so addicted, it is very entertaining when people are arguing but other than that it is just watching people eat sleep and cry.

All in all I think that Big Brother is useless and they should have cut it off years ago. It is just full of people who do not have any self respect and attention seekers. In conclusion I do not recommend this to anybody as it is a waste of time watching people embarrass themselves on national television.

Summary: If you watch it then you are fools, it is a freak show and people have no respect for themselves
