Advantages: A great social experiment!

Disadvantages: I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it, there are better things on.

Big brother is a reality show like a social experiment. When it first started it was an original idea of stuffing a bunch of strangers in to a house and not allowing them to go out and make them do whatever big brother wants for nine weeks. The show is hosted by Davina McCall.

Each week the housemates have to nominate a certain amount of people in the the house to be put up for eviction. The people with the most nominations are put up for up for eviction. Then it is up to the public to decide who leaves the house. Who goes you decide. Then on eviction Friday Davina tells the housemates and us, the public who has been evicted live (unless your watching the repeat). The housemate has ten seconds to say good bye to everyone in the house and then they have to leave to face the public and his/her boo's (or cheers but that's unlikely). Davina has an interview asking the housemate all the questions in your mind. The evicted housemate normally has a week of fame, then goes to return to being a nobody. You'll see a picture of the housemate somewhere and you'll think that person looks familiar but you can't quite put your finger on it. Oh well, let's go home to watch big brother. The last person left wins £70,000 (or in the case of this series maybe less.)

It is funny and interesting to see how being with so many people all the time, some that they can't stand and sometimes some that the housemates can't stand to be apart from (even though most of the time the housemates fake that) makes them act and develop. The best part is that those are real people really doing those stupid things. Some time you can't believe some of the things the housemates do. I love hating some of the housemate. I know that sounds weird but if the house was full people who you all like it wouldn't be as entertaining. For example in this series I seriously hated Noirin and Bee but now they have been evicted (which is still a good thing because they didn't deserve to be in the house), the show is still entertaining just not as much as it was when they were in the house. It was just fun to watch and wonder what selfish, stupid act they were going to do next.

As the show and the series gose on the show gets less and less entertaining. The first series was much more entertaining then it is now.

Most of the people who go in are in for the fame (which normally doesn't happen) and some for the money (most for the fame though). Some say they are going in for the experience but I don't buy that. I'm sure there are the few odd housemates who actually go in for the experience or to learn more about themselfs but most just say this to look good but I normally can tell (whether I'm right or wrong that's a different story) who's going in for what reason even if they say otherwise. Personally I don't care, but I think the person who's honest about the reason makes the more worthy winner but it's still entertaining to watch the others.

It's hard to tell who's being fake and who's being real in this show. I normally make guesses, who knows I could be completely wrong. Some of the hosemates can be quite good and convincing at pretending to be real as you can be. However some can be being real but seem to be so fake.

People who watch this show and judge some of the housemates and feel guilty about that without really knowing them in person (that's properly not many.) have got nothing to worry about because judging the housemates is all part of the fun and entertainment and besides the contestants should know they could end up hated because of big brother (even though it would still hurt).

I have heard many people say they get addicted to big brother and when they want to stop watching it they can't but I am not one of them. I am not the biggest fan of big brother, I haven't seen every series and every episode of big brother. I normally only watch it when there's nothing else on and I don't mind missing a few episode or so or even missing an eviction. Which obviously implies big brother isn't the best show for me and there are better things I could be doing or watching instead of big brother.

I really to enjoy this show, it is a great social experiment to see how different people react and deal with different situations. Some give up and leave, some cry, some laugh, some argue, some blame others, some scheme, some just sit there and watch, and other types of people to other crazy things that leave you hating them or loving them or still not caring who the heck they are. It is interesting to see who resorts to what and why.

I advice you not to go out of your way to watch this show but it certainly is an entertaining show to watch if there nothing else to watch or your bored. It comes on every day on channel 4.

Summary: Watch it when there's nothing else on.
